Wireless ear buds/headphones...what you got?

For about 2 1/2 years I was using Bose Sound Sport Frees which have been great. I've dabbled with other head phones like Jabra (not bad but not great) Jaybird (good but kinda overpriced) Airpods and Airpods Pros (Hot garbage and slightly better than garbage).

My Bose are finally starting to act up and the battery is getting toast. I really want to try the new Bose QuietComfort which are probably amazing and Patrick Mahomes wears them so there's that.

However I got a pair of Sony WF-1000XM3 on sale and I got to say these are pretty fantastic. Active noise cancelling and ambient mode. Sound quality is wonderful and it has tons of customizable features. Fits in great and look good but I haven't tried working out in them. I haven't had to charge them yet after several hours so battery is good but the carrying case is sorta big, about the size of Airpod Pros.

For over the ear I use a decent pair of AKGs with noise cancellation that I got for free so can't beat that.

How about y'all?

I use cans. Following.

Soundcore liberty 2 Pro. Way better than apple air pods and Galaxy buds.

Plantronics Backbeat Pro 2 over-the-ear.

I had Bose QC 35's before that.

The ANC on the Plantronics set is not quite as good as the Bose or Sony but they support AptX BT low latency which is a must for my setup.

I love my galaxy buds.

My QC 35s gave up the ghost. I loved them while they lasted. I just use a pair of Shure wired earbuds I've had awhile and sound great. AKG and Sony pro cans variety model over the years. The wireless earbuds I have had just were too unsatisfactory for music that they collect dust now on the dresser.

I picked up a pair of quietcomfort headphones off of Amazon a few months ago for $200. Best headphones I've ever owned.

Way better than my Beats

Timely topic. I got a set of Beats Powerbeats Pro last week to replace my old workout buds. I’m not sure I’m going to keep them.

They sound good but in typical Apple fashion they have a trait that pisses me off: there is no power button.
You can’t turn them off. You have to put them in the charging case to get them to unpair from your phone.

They aren’t noise canceling but I knew that. They feel fine, and are the over the ear style that I like for working out. But I’m looking at others and might exchange them for something I can turn off.

Do the Sony WF 1000 stay secure when you’re running or hiking?

I have this cheap ass pair of otium ones from Amazon. They’re pretty darn good for the price.

I haven’t used a ton of other kinds so I don’t know how the sound compares.

I've had beats in the past as well. They were pretty good before Apple bought them out, now I think they're waaay overpriced. The Sonys seem to fit in pretty well but for hiking or running I'd recommend Jaybird or Under Armour. The under armour true wireless flash x are designed for working out and are IPX7 water rating. At my job I'm fortunate to try a lot of stuff like this

Thanks. I hadn’t considered Sony. A little reading indicates their WF-SP800N might be a consideration for a workout earbud. I’m concerned about them not falling off when I’m doing lateral exercise, which is why I ended up with the Beats Pro.

Do you like the ambient mode? Several times I wish I had buds with this feature.

My neighbor just bought these wearable speakers on Amazon for about $75. They're for around the neck, they have speakers and it's like the music is all around your head. It's not loud if you're not wearing it but it can be heard. It's built in little speakers and you put it on, it's like your all head is surrouded with music. I asked why didn't you get ear plugs or something and he said those have been proven to be bad for your hearing.

He's fishing out in a kayak every week and said this is perfect, because there's not a separate radio and IPOD or anything to get lost or wet. He plugs in a micro SD card of recorded music. I looked on Amazon and there many, many versions, some very cheap and some expensive.

If you're looking for noise cancelling, I bought a pair of SONY WH-1000XM3 over the ear and they're my favorite headphones, ever. Bought some wireless galaxy buds because they were super cheap and they're fine for what they are

I use Bose Sound Sport as well. My only complaint is battery life. The fit great, sound great. Before those I tried Aftershokz bone conduction wireless. They fit well, but had terrible sound quality (which is kind of unavoidable with bone conduction).
