Street Fighter IV brings the legendary fighting series back to its roots by taking the beloved fighting moves and techniques of the original Street Fighter II, and infusing them with Capcomís latest advancements in next generation technology to create a truly extraordinary experience that will re-introduce the world to the time-honored art of virtual martial arts.

Everything that made the legendary Street Fighter II a hit in the arcades, living rooms and dormitories across the globe has been brought back in Street Fighter IV. Players will be able to play their favorite classic characters, such as Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li and Guile, along with new characters, including Crimson Viper, Abel, El Fuerte, and Rufus. Characters and environments are rendered in stylized 3D, while the game is played in the classic Street Fighter 2D perspective with additional 3D camera flourishes. Six-button controls for the game return, with a host of new special moves and features integrated into the gameplay system. Street Fighter IV brings a brand new fighting game to fans the world over.

3D environments and characters

Traditional "2D" Street Fighter six-button gameplay

Classic Street Fighter characters re-imagined for a new generation of gamers, including the original cast of Street Fighter II

New brawlers: female super-spy Crimson Viper, lucha libre wrestler El Fuerte, mixed martial artist Abel and more!

New special moves that go beyond any Street Fighter fan's wildest imagination, including Focus Attacks, Super Combos, and the revenge-fueled Ultra Combo system.

Amazing locations never seen before in a Street Fighter game

New gameplay elements provide challenges for both newcomers as well as the most seasoned Street Fighter pro.

If someone buys the official SF4 joystick, please do a mini review for us.

I have a Hori EX2 fight stick that i bought for SSF2 HD remix. its ok, but the stick isn't nearly mushy enough. the stick and the buttons are very clickity-clackity.

You can replace the parts on it pretty easily.
There is a great thread on neogaf on arcade sticks. I've linked it more than once.

im playing it right now for 360. The game is ok, the good thing is all the original street fighter II characters are back. Even Bison/balrog/vega.

They have this weird thing with teh medium punch and kick. When holding both down, itll do a force hit against your opponent, kinda like a Rage, or from SF EX. It'll knock the opponent woozy for a few seconds. kinda lame since my button config does use medium, I have to adjust. It doesnt look like it's blockable, not very street fighterish. They also do stop motion animation, freezing the game for a comic'esque feel, right before a super move, they got too cute with it.

The gameplay is good, but I still think SF3 has the better pure game play. It looks like theres no parrying as well. The fighters kinda seem to take their time to get up, its kinda annoying.

Nothing really new added to the game except for a few characters, and of course the graphics. The last leader Seth, is a bitch to beat. I still havent figured out how to unlock Akuma. Havent played with friends yet since I just got it last night, maybe itll get better against human players.

ya i've seen that article. the joystick and buttons that i would buy to replace the current ones (+ shipping) costs just as much as a higher quality arcade stick setup. And i would need to buy a dremel and soldering iron. So i'm looking for opinions on the other sticks.

I unlocked Akuma and Gouken about 5-10 minutes ago.

It's rather easy, and I'll even give you the "easy mode" tactic to do it.

First, unlock the other characters BESIDES seth, as in you will NOT get seth before akuma and gouken. After that, follow my advice very specifically. As in, just to make sure you understand it, before you start this process you should only have THREE empty character slots left... If there's ANYONE besides seth, gouken, and akuma missing you WILL NOT get the chance to unlock gouken and akuma!!!!!!!!

Anyway here you go....

Difficulty: Easiest(yes, easiest, most people didn't notice it goes easier than easy)
Rounds: 1

Pick Ryu(you have to play as someone you've already beaten the game with, and you have to beat it with ryu to get sakura, plus his ultra is EASY to connect with)

First 2 fights, just Jump in Fierce Kick, Fierce sweep. Right after they fall down from the sweep, back dash. When they're starting to get back up, Jump in with the fierce kick again, sweep. Rinse and repeat. About 3 times in they should be stunned, don't go crazy and try anything funny, just stick to the plan of jump-kick, sweep.... Perfect.

Fight 3, get your opponent down until they only have 1-2 hits left on their life-bar using the jump-kick/sweep method. Now let your opponent slap you around until you have your ultra built up, only one level is necessary. Now, just unload it on him, the AI on easiest falls for it 100% of the time unless you fired it at a time where it would be impossible to connect.... Do the same for fight 4. Not sure if the 2 ultras are necessary to fight akuma, but better safe than sorry.

Rest of the fights, INCLUDING AKUMA, just stick to the original fight plan used for the first two fights. Even works on Seth.

After unlocking akuma, you must now beat it WITH akuma. Your performance doesn't matter, because Gouken is NOT going to challenge you on your akuma run thru. The jump-kick/sweep trick works here too for a quick run thru.

Now, go back to Ryu, and go right back to the fight plan I told you. This time, go for ultras on fights 3,4, and 5 just to be safe. This worked for me in no time flat, easy to do, and each run thru takes less than 5 minutes. You spend more time at the loading screen than you do fighting except when fishing for ultra enders.

Thinking about picking this guy up - I just hope the D-Pad isn't a "floaty" one like the 360 is.

They can make an excellent product one day and turn around and make a shit product the next. I'll just return the damned thing if I don't like it - the only thing that worries me is the D-Pad.

kcxiv 02-17-2009 02:54 PM

I gotta wait until about 4-5 my time. argh I kind of want to get the madcatz controller, i dont know if i want to pick up a 80 dollar arcade stick. Thats lot lol

**** it, goign to get it for the PS3 first. Going to go pick it up right now. I will get it on the 360 in a few months when its a bit cheaper along with a stick. lol I cant afford a stick atm, and the ps3 controller is better to play with it on.

*edit2*

Have to have it pre ordered. Walmart is getting it in tomorrow. Oh well, tomorrow it is.
