 that just means she'll be free to kill season 2 when it starts filming!

I'm sure she can find time to kill a midseason show and maybe a summer show on USA in between.

The first ep, which was awesome....

and had a 30% drop in viewers from last season.

I wonder if the last start to the new season and lack of advertising the new season hurt viewership.

Episode is better tonight

Aries Walker 10-15-2013 07:23 PM

You thought tonight's was better? I thought the main guest actress couldn't act to save her life, the plot was simplistic and anticlimactic, the special effects sucked, and every character was being really stupid.

Oh, also
Spoiler!

Tonight's seemed like the weakest so far to me.

Valiant 10-15-2013 09:20 PM

I am fine giving shows a season to build. Networks should not give up so easy with internet viewership and dvds..

It would be great if it were a hit from the start, but that shit is lightning in a bottle. Hell even that goes wrong after heroes season 1.

Internet viewership? That doesn't generate income, which comes from advertising dollars.

And creating DVD boxed sets isn't inexpensive, either.

Shows need to hit certain numbers immediately. If the cost of producing and promoting a program outweighs the money generated, it's obvious that those programs need to be cancelled.

Finding an audience can be difficult but it's up to the network execs to make the decisions to cut or extend programs, as their careers depend on being "right".

I actually think the opposite: While I enjoyed the second episode of the season best so far, the team is beginning to build chemistry. We're also learning that Coulson's transformation is likely deeper than first thought.

And Bear is killing the score. He's the best TV composer in the business and by a wide margin, IMO.

What about ABC.com? Or pay sites like Amazon....doesn't that generate money for ABC?

Not much. Advertisers aren't paying hundreds of thousands per spot. It's more like 1/10000th of a penny per play.

For example, one million hits on YouTube generates less than $3500 dollars so even at 10 million views, you're looking $35k. That's nothing.

I don't know Amazon's fee structure but I assume it's similar to Apple's iTunes, which takes 35% of all downloads.

I thought the guest actress was pretty bad.

The team chemistry is getting better, but I expected that. It's the hallmark of a whedon show.
