Not an app necessarily, but OS 4 is out if you folks don't already know. LOTS of new features.

EA has Madden 10, Tiger Woods, Need for Speed Shift and Underground each for .99 cents right now.

Tiger Woods is excellent. ONly played Madden briefly but it was fun marching down the field on the Raiders with nothing but passes. :evil:

Haven't tried the two need for speeds or trivial pursuit yet though.

Right now I am just trying to figure out which iOS4 functions are available to me on my Touch 2G.

EDIT - the iOS4 software drains the battery pretty bad. HOpe that gets fixed. It also reduced the total size of my storage capacity from 7GB to 6.83GB.

Honestly i'd rather all apps conform to certain specifications, like Microsoft and Sony do for their console games.

Instead Apple lets anyone make an app and sell it for a buck or two, which leads to thousands upon thousands of shitty apps.

Actually, Apple has very stringent requirements for their Apps. They deny thousands of otherwise quality apps for the most ridiculous of reasons. And they've caught tons of flak for it. They've denied apps from some of the best and most powerful companies even. Including Google apps. There are plenty of shitty apps, but it has nothing to do with Apple being lackadaisical about specifications.

Battery is noticeably better on my 3GS.

Really? That's the first report I've heard of shortened battery life. Maybe has to do with the subpar hardware (vs iPhone 4 or 3GS)

Just found out that Simplify Media is shutting down. Jukefly is supposedly a good, free alternative.

I do, works great. I have a gmail acct and exchange acct that are all (if you want them to be) in one inbox and the emails are now saved in threads.

Its so nice and everything just set up in the threads when I updated.

also, I just played some of Need for Speed Undercover and it is really fun. Steering is very good on it. I would definitely recommend it if you like the series at all.

Is there a way to increase difficulty on Tiger Woods?

I like it, but I am -27 through two rounds at St. Andrews and the 2nd place guy is -6.

Just discovered that one of my favorite apps, Intelliscreen, doesn't work with OS4 yet. I'm gonna have to hold off till they fix that. I can't possibly live without it at this point...

The streaming music function is pretty much a necessity for me (at home, anyway). My Sony sub/soundbar/iPhone system, for some unknown reason, doesn't allow me to use the iPod function. Pandora and NPR work great. It's the strangest thing.

Update on Jukefly. For a free app/program, it's pretty solid. Good performance and selectable audio quality. No idea whether they'll add multitasking. The only downside is that the artist selection is wack.

After using a friend's new 4 last night, I'm doubly pissed the pre-order system broke down.

I went ahead and restored and updated my 3GS since I'll be trading it in to radioshack for $200 and then picking up my iphone4..
I'm also disappointed that "lockInfo" isn't compatible with OS4.... meh

Last night I found out that I can't set a home screen background because I have a 3G. Really? I got my phone last April, and I have to upgrade in order have a damn wallpaper on the home screen because the hardware "can't handle it"? Apple is getting lamer all the time.

EDIT: Yeah, I know I can jailbreak it and have all of the features that Apple should have had from day 1. But my gripe isn't that the hardware CAN'T do it, it's that Apple WON'T allow it.

Explain the $200 trade in. I know nothing about it, but would be interested.

So as long as they get at least 51 phones for their 1st shipment, my wait shouldn't be that long.

If ATT was willing to take trades, I could have one on the 29th.

And FYI - make sure you call several stores. The first I called said they would give me up to $150 for my 3Gs without asking anything about the phone. Radio Shack's website, and the other stores I called actually asked me a handful of questions then told me I'd get $200.

Anyone know how to downgrade OS 4 back to 3.1.3? Doomy was going to sell me his but when he was clearing data, it automatically downloaded the OS4.

It's a pain... and it only works for firmware, not baseband.

Sure wish they would release info on what they are going to do with Ipod Touch 4G.

They won't until September. Maaaaaybe late August. But September has been their iPod cycle month. They flush inventory with the free iPod with Mac promotion and then introduce the next generation.

I know they put it out to purchase in September but I just want to know if they will be putting iphone 4 tech in it or if it will just be the same crap they did last year.

I'd place good bets on:

- A4 processor
- memory bump
- RAM bump
- camera upgrade


I wouldn't bet on:

- Retina display
- Microphone
- Front Facing camera

I want the first four AND the microphone. But, I want the iphone camera NOT the ipod Nano camera that has been rumored.

I think it will be the iPhone camera because it will officially take out the Flip video cameras, if they do. Also, more $$ on iMovie app.

I highly doubt a microphone is there because it would then serve as a phone for VOIP calls and I just don't think they want that until the cell market is saturated.

Though, I would argue that VOIP is the future and services like Clear will be in good position to take advantage of iPod Touch like devices making calls - and video calls at that.

It would be huge if they added HD video recording on the Touch..... can you imagine?

Face to face app would be cool but it makes sense not to put the front facing camera on a touch. I can see your point on the microphone but if that is the case why can you still purchase a headphone set with the mic built in to that? If they are going to make it part of the headphones then just put it in the touch.

Wow, just downgraded my iPhone from 4 to 3.1.3, then jail broke it, then unlocked it. Thats a big accomplishment seeing as how I'm such a tech reerun.

Now time to go page by page in this thread and install every app here. :evil:

Jailbreaking is fine. Stealing apps, not so much. Even a Jailbroken iphone will give you a pop up warning when you try to install instalous.

Because when I first jailbroke my touch I installed installous. then I changed my mind after getting that pop up.

Plus, most games can be had for a buck if you are patient.

For an iPhone screenshot, press and hold the Home button on the front, and press and release the power button on top. A screenshot pic will be added to the camera roll....

I just installed installous last night and downloaded the t-pain app and some yahtzee game. Im never gonna download expensive games, even though i know thats enough to get me in trouble. I have to admit im kinda nervous.
