I'm confused...(but it doesn't take much to confuse me)
How could we look so bad against Oak. and Atl. and have the kind of performance we did today against the Donks?
I mean we weren't just bad in the last 2 games, it was so painful to watch at times it was almost comical. I knew Huard would make a difference but who could have predicted we'd go arena league against the Donks? The D and special teams played well too. After this I really have no idea what to expect from this team. Thoughts anyone? |
Well when you have a QB that only completes about 40 percent of his passes like Thiggy did the last 2 weeks your offense can't get a first down and your D gets worn out. Huard helped moved the chains with efficient passing. That and it is a very young team and they'll be up and down all year.
|
That's the NFL for you. Odds are there will probably be a future game where we look bad against a bad team... and play really well against a good one.
Look at us so far, New England's not the same team, but they're still pretty good... had a legit shot to beat them in their house... beat Denver, lost to two bad teams. That's also the mark of a young team, really inconsistent. |
Tyler Thigpen.
I've been trying to tell people but they just don't listen. |
I know, Thigpen sucks, but I wasn't expecting our offense to look as good as they did today with Huard.

Thigpen is like, bottom of the barrel NFL quarterbacking. If this was Madden, his accuracy rating would be 50, and his awareness would be 20. As long as we run the ball, Huard is going to be fine. |
Seems we may have turned the ball over a bit more against Raiders and the Falcons. I bet that had something to do with it too. Maybe.
|
Offensive line play considerably better=LJ can run & Hutard doesn't get killed.
|
Young teams will look great one week, and lost the next. As the season progresses the consistency will improve. This win was good for everyone. Us, and the young players. Great win.
|
Offensive line looked better, respecting the passing game (ie NOT putting 8 in the box every play), some good execution and a good day by Gonzo and LJ.
I thought the defense looked good too. Though obvious glaring holes in secondary. Run defense was good at least. |
A couple of reasons, really
- youth and inexperience = inconsistency - Denver's defense is really bad (will probably keep them out of the playoffs if they don't win the division) - better QB play - we got all the breaks today |
when you're so bad as a team
Redrum's mom won't do you all the message hits home with a jolt |

And not to take anything away from a great win, but it's not like we were stellar on offense... <pre> START QTR POSS. When the Saints played them last week, 4 of 5 of the Saints' drives were over 50 yards, and all 6 of the Chargers' scoring drives were over 50 yards. We ran well for the second week in a row and 160 yards passing... a lack of huge mistakes was the big difference in the passing game. The run defense is the one big shock to me... we had given up 126, 300, and 186 yards in the first 3 games, so to hold Denver to under 100 is a huge surprise. |
It's not that big of a shock. Our defense wasn't on the field all goddamn day because of 3 and outs.

Rebuilding... get over it...
