Here are just some random songs that I really like.

I love me some Guy Clark. This song has some bonus Emmylou too.

My favorite Waylon song

Bruce Robison is a great songwriter. I first heard about him when Angry All the Time came out. This is an amazing song with a excellent video featuring his wife Kelly Willis. I get chills every time I see this as you can just feel the weariness and despair.

When Tim and Faith covered this song, they completely sucked all of the emotion out of it. I hate their version.

Bruce also wrote "Travelin Soldier" which was nicely covered by the Dixie Chicks. I like his version but it just seems like a song that should be sung by a woman.

Speaking of Rodney Crowell (in my earlier posts), his ex-wife Rosanne Cash is probably best known for her poppy Seven Year Ache but she has turned into a mature, solid singer/songwriter.

Here is a song she did with her dad shortly before he died. It's been known to make the ol' allergies flare up.

Also, if you don't have her Black Cadillac album, which she wrote after Johnny died, you are doing yourself a disservice. Amazing album.

Well it's the same 'ol tune, fiddle and guitar

One of my favorite songs of all time.

Random is a good thing. Lessee...

Oh. Going a ways back here. My mom and dad just loved Gene Watson back in the day. This dude had a real distinctive voice.

There'll be flowers from those..
who'll cry, when I go
and leave you in this, world alone
I know you'll have fun
at my... farewell party
I know... you'll be glad... when I'm gone

I watch it about once a week.

I don't know why but I've only recently (last couple of years) gotten into Waylon's music. I waited way too long.

However, I'm not a very big fan of his partner in crime, Willie Nelson. I like the songs they do together ("So just lay on your ass and get richer or write your own songs") but most of his solo stuff is just "meh". However, I do like this song.

Now for a blast from my past. I had both of these albums when I was like 14 years old.

Waylon is a legend and better late than never. Willie is a legend too but an aquired taste. I didn't like Willie as a kid either. I grew to appreciate him.

Heh. Look at Gatlin sitting in front of Watson just gettin' into it. They all went nuts when he blasted that last line. Pretty awesome.

Lorrie Morgan. Holly Dunn, Larry Gatlin singling along. I'm serious about watching that about once a week. I need that classic stuff to keep me passionate about the genre.

Another all time favorite. Ricky Van Shelton's "Statue of A Fool" at the same show as the Gene Watson vid.

God. I remember that song now. Holy hell I don't think there's any way that gets on the radio today. What say you, Fever?

I had both of his albums and was one of the 10's of people that watched The Jim Stafford Show. I was a 14 year old fanboi.

He only had two albums? Whatever happened to that guy? I remember he had some really clever stuff.

Yup - only two albums. He put some singles out afterward though.

Chiefsos.... tomorrow is free for all friday. If we have it and someone requests it we'll play it. Last week we played Anne Murry, John Denver, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Rosanne Cash, John Conlee, Statler Brothers, Oak Ridge Boys, Vern Gosdin and others. We embrace it. I hate getting requests for current hits and I often ignore them.
