Rain Man 12-31-2012 12:02 PM

What is our second-greatest position of need?

It appears that we may have some other needs besides our greatest need, which is quarterback. This does not in any way diminish the fact that quarterback is our greatest need, and it is not intended to distract anyone from the clear and obvious fact that quarterback is our greatest need. But aside from quarterback, which is our greatest need, what is our second-greatest need?

Poll forthcoming, unless for some reason canceling the poll will help us satisfy our greatest need, which is quarterback.

There are four clear choices - corner, inside backer, left tackle (provided Albert is gone, and I don't think Stephenson is the answer), and free safety (Berry COULD move there, but then we'd need a SS).

If Bowe walks, receiver jumps to #2.

CaliforniaChief 12-31-2012 12:06 PM

WR. And that's even if we re-sign Bowe.

Prison Bitch 12-31-2012 12:06 PM

right corner. then, SS

TrickyNicky 12-31-2012 12:07 PM

Depends on if we pay Albert or Bowe. Whoever walks needs to be addressed after the qb. After that, probably Dline *groan*

CHENZ A! 12-31-2012 12:08 PM

CB.. but there several others as well.

Mr. Laz 12-31-2012 12:09 PM

QB
Speed WR
Cornerback
Free Safety
MLB

some would say that Cornerback is more important than a speed WR but imo if we draft a young QB then weapons for him are a priority, even if the defense suffers.

Rain Man 12-31-2012 12:09 PM

I'm ticked off because I wanted to vote free safety, but our cornerback position has gone from a strength to a weakness. We have to replace Carr first, and then free safety.

My priority list is:

Quarterback, of course
Cornerback
Free safety
Wide receiver
Defensive end

Molitoth 12-31-2012 12:09 PM

It just depends on if Albert and Bowe is retained.

Deberg_1990 12-31-2012 12:10 PM

Probably cornerback. I think a better coach and scheme could generate more of a pass rush with what we currently have....but a team can never have too many pass rushers.

bevischief 12-31-2012 12:10 PM

We could take a CB in the 3rd and 4th. New QB needs talented weapons.

Another +1 for Chip Kelly.

HolyHat 12-31-2012 12:23 PM

If we are going to draft Geno we need a speed reciever that is bigger than 5'3 112lbs

suds79 12-31-2012 12:24 PM

Is Dwayne Bowe staying??

I voted WR. Going to have a rookie QB that you're building around. Give him the best possibly to succeed.

CB is very, very close 2nd.

loochy 12-31-2012 12:27 PM

another qb

KC_Lee 12-31-2012 12:29 PM

Corner or Wide Receiver.

ModSocks 12-31-2012 12:29 PM

When you have the worst scoring offense since 1929, i wouldn't be opposed to spending every pick on the offense. That thing is a ****ing train wreck. At least the defense is respectable enough to keep you in games.

As a bit of trivia, six teams - nearly 20 percent of the league - scored more than twice as many points as we did. I'm still in shock at the observation in another thread that we had a grand total of eight touchdown passes this year. That destroys my mind to even think about. Eight.

I don't even want to know how many INTs we had this year.

ok you can tell me.

BlackHelicopters 12-31-2012 12:40 PM

Voted WR. CB next.

Chief Roundup 12-31-2012 12:48 PM

It truly depends on the coaches we bring in along with what players we retain.
If we keep Albert and Bowe then it has to be between DE and CB. With the possibility of both Jackson and Dorsey being gone would make it the greatest need.

ptlyon 12-31-2012 12:49 PM

Wheres the head coach option?

el borracho 12-31-2012 12:51 PM

After QB, we need receivers and tight ends. We should probably select offense with our first 4 picks in the upcoming draft.

tavon austin i would like in the 2nd round

eazyb81 12-31-2012 12:55 PM

CB simply because Clark was too cheap.

Letting a productive player like Carr walk when we had plenty of cap space was a slap in the face to the players and fans.

O.city 12-31-2012 12:56 PM

I would say Owner at 1 and GM at 2?

20. We had 8 touchdowns and 20 interceptions this year. Those would've been decent stats in 1935 when giant Nagurskis ruled the earth and passers were tiny little things running underfoot trying to avoid being eaten.

Interestingly, Marc Boerigter once had 8 TDs in a season where he caught 20 passes.

We wasted 455 passes this season, then.

Or if we still had Boerigter, we would've ended up with 190 touchdown passes, which would have satisfied everyone.

Dave Lane 12-31-2012 02:38 PM

I'd say 2nd string QB, Cornerback, Wide Receiver.

Can't have too many QBs. Washington is trying to turn a 4th rounder into 2 firsts. That tells you the value of a decent QB.

I'd say DE(3-tech), CB, and WR are all pretty equal.

Urc Burry 12-31-2012 03:32 PM

WR. I want a rookie QB to have some weapons. And at the top of the 2nd there is great potential in Hunter, Patterson, etc.

Pasta Little Brioni 01-01-2013 06:49 AM

Secondary. GTFO out of here with WR. A QB will go along ways towards fixing that and Bowe's back with Pioli's balls in a jar.

JCharles1981 01-01-2013 06:54 AM

I can't narrow it down, but we do need an Offensive Line that isn't going to fall apart once the team gets into the Red Zone. That's why Jamaal Charles didn't get more rushing TD's this season. Apparently, settling for a field goal this season was more important to our offense than actually getting into the End Zone.

Pasta Little Brioni 01-01-2013 07:02 AM

No, the team settled for FG's because they had some of the most dogshit QB play the league has ever seen before.

Pioli looks to bolster the defense in the up upcoming draft. With the first overall pick he will bring home LSU Defensive End Sam Montgomery.

http://media.nola.com/lsu_impact/pho...0cafa2ae43.jpg

Pioli feels there will still be value at Quarterback in rounds five through seven. Look for the Pioli led chiefs to be very active in free agency.
