Try this poll on for size: The Titans lure in Manning....

Manning shows up to Tennessee for training camp is perfect shape and seemingly perfectly healthy. The Titans anticipate playing him for the next three years.

Which makes the 1st rounder they spent on Jake Locker seem like a waste of a pick.

So Scott Pioli and the Chiefs finally bring in a QB of the future by trading this year's 2nd, next year's 2nd, and another pick in 2013 based on performance, for Jake Locker.

Locker pushes Cassel for the starting position in 2012, and takes over in 2013.

He will be 24 years old by that time.

I'm for it.

MMXcalibur 03-15-2012 01:18 PM

No deal. Let's see what this Matt Cassel guy has got first.

Big Chief Homer 03-15-2012 01:20 PM

Never happens,Pioli never cheats on his wife. Locker would be a good mistress but Scotty loves him some Matty.

I voted yes.

mnchiefsguy 03-15-2012 01:20 PM

I would do the deal, although I would try to maybe get Locker for a 2nd, a 3rd, and have the last pick based on performance ...but not to exceed another 2nd.

SuperChief 03-15-2012 01:21 PM

Locker isn't ideal, blah blah blah. **** it. Just do something different. Give the kid a shot. What have we got to lose?

RealSNR 03-15-2012 01:22 PM

Locker isn't worth that much. Tennessee's the one who drove down his value, so they should be willing to accept less.

That said, if it's really the only option we have of building on a young QB with promising talent, I guess I'll take it up the ass on that deal.

Again, at least we'd be trying.

Id rather draft a QB in the first round of 2013 -
Id rather sign the other Matt from the Titans on a 1 year deal. Use my round 2 pick on a NT

KurtCobain 03-15-2012 01:24 PM

Locker should Cost atleast a first. I was thinking hasselbeck is the more realistic version.

T-post Tom 03-15-2012 01:24 PM

What does next year's crop of QB draftees look like?

The Franchise 03-15-2012 01:24 PM

Flopnuts just JIHP.

I don't know... you're asking for a guy the Titans invested with a Top 10 pick, then looked pretty damn good in limited time. Plus he's gotten Hasselbeck training directly for the past year. It's going to be a little painful to get him.

He's going to require a cost.

I'm thinking something like this might get the deal done:
  • This year's 2nd.
  • 2013's 2nd.
  • conditional pick in 2013:
    -- If he doesn't suit up in 2012, it's a 5th.
-- If he starts at least two games, it's a 4th.
-- If he starts at least eight games, it's a 3rd.
-- If he starts every game, OR throws for 3,500 yards, OR the team wins nine games with him under center, it's a 1st.

htismaqe 03-15-2012 01:26 PM

I wouldn't trade a single pick for Jake Locker. Not one.

Rooster 03-15-2012 01:28 PM

At this point I'm all for letting Zorn QB for a season.

**** no on the last condition. this would be more palatable:
