What to do in KC?

The family and I will be in KC for my second, their first Chiefs game. Also, Sunday is the old ladies birthday. So we want to have a good time. Will be coming into town on Saturday, and staying through Monday night!

We already know what we're doing Monday night obviously, but what can't we leave town without doing?

We plan on eating BBQ a lot. OK Joe's, Arthur Bryant's, Gate's, Zarta's...which ones are musts? Any I missed? Also, on her birthday, I'd like to eat somewhere fairly nice, but obviously without the price tag. Any suggestions?

Probably plan on trying to do the tour of Arrowhead, hit the Power and Light district, the Plaza. I saw "RAIN" the Beatles tribute was in town, think it's worth it? The 14yr. old daughter is a HUGE Beatles fan, so I'm leaning towards it. Is the WW1 museum can't miss?

We're staying at the Marriott in the Plaza, so anything in that vicinity would be appreciated. Thanks in advance guys!

The Chiefs new QB will be playing in Columbia Saturday night

Just a heads up- Ok Joe's is closed on Sundays, so if you want to get some work around that.

Excellent hotel choice. I love to stay there when I can afford it. It's fairly close to just about anything you want to do. They run a shuttle to and from the Plaza. My one "can't miss" on the Plaza is the Cheesecake Factory. I've never actually eaten there, but I will always go in and pay way too much for cheesecake to take back to the hotel.

The zoo should be having polar bears put into it, don't know if that got pushed back or not.

aturnis 09-07-2010 10:33 PM

How is the zoo? Does it compare to Omaha or the Brookefield Zoo in Illinois? Iowa guy here. No clue. Worlds of fun? The old lady is pregnant, so she probably wouldn't dig that much.

Blaise, thanks for the heads up on OK Joes, you da man.

The first and last time I went to the KC Zoo, it was a shite-hole and boring as all ****.

Of course, that was 1988 so...

Jardine's is nice but food over priced. Eat at club next door on back deck is nice (can't remember name), then enjoy some jazz. http://www.jardines4jazz.com/index.php

Light up some Kush and drive around 435

Is that Eat-a-McBeth?

Bewbies 09-07-2010 10:48 PM

When I'm in KC I always eat at Jackstack after the game. If your "old lady" likes shopping The Plaza is cool.

And there's a Jack Stack almost right next to The Cheesecake factory.
