Happy 9th Birthday Dayton Moore!
Dayton's 9th year begins today. I thought I'd start a thread to discuss his performance, which is now the longest GM tenure in club history. 4 out of 30 teams failed to make MLB playoffs in that time, his being one obviously. He has one winning season where he finished 3rd. (Incidentally KC went 15-4 vs a terrible Minny and 71-72 vs all else).
Moore is currently mired at 26-30 with no realistic hope to make the playoffs this year and doubtful even to have a winning record. "This is on me" he told the media the other day. Of course, he doesn't really believe that. 8 years over and the prospect wave failed horribly. The only decent players he has are big dollar guys from other teams (Shields, Guthrie, Infante) and a holdover from Baird (Gordon). Moore produced Sal and Holland and Ventura. That's it. What will you be getting Moore for his birthday today? |

Moore's birthday present. A new ligament for Venturas elbow.

I got him a years subscription to Baseball Prospectus, one Bill James book, a lifetime membership to SABR and , well, a card with a giant clown on the front.

Last place in the division. Third worst record in the AL.
Feels like we just won the World Series. |
Get him someone who can develop prospects.
DM can acquire solid prospects and build a decent farm systems. that's all he's proven he can do. Yippee Posted via Mobile Device |

Seriously, DM cannot **** off soon enough. |
Royals were 23-31 on June 2nd of last year. Progress...
DM just needs more time. Posted via Mobile Device |

That's because everybody in the AL Central has been mediocre this year. What hurts is, the Royals have a losing record vs. AL Central opponents thus far. |
Candlesticks make a nice gift

How to Be a MLB GM for Dummies
|
He had twice as much to spend as Baird did, and had a long time to build a system. Here we are beginning year 9 with, again, a loser team. On pace for 75-87 at this win % (don't know te pythag). He really needs to be fired if they win 75 or so.
