Bump 01-09-2013 08:06 PM

wasn't there a shitty QB like 10 years ago named Doug Pederson? Is that him?

DeezNutz 01-09-2013 08:06 PM

Seems under-qualified, but I really have no clue.

What happened to the immenent Brad Childress signing in the other thread?

Mr_Tomahawk 01-09-2013 08:07 PM

The Packersification begins...

NJChiefsFan 01-09-2013 08:07 PM

Well that would be another guy on the staff that has worked specifically with QB's.

ShowtimeSBMVP 01-09-2013 08:07 PM

I think Reid will call the plays.

Mother****erJones 01-09-2013 08:08 PM

Seems like a pupil type hire where Reid is gonna trust him more and hired Childress to be able to help Pederson along.

I'm not excited by the hire, but As a combo package with Childress it's a nice get.

He was the QB coach for the Eagles

BradBigglestein 01-09-2013 08:10 PM

Pederson was the Eagles QB before McNabb took over. He sucked. Decent QB coach, but I liked Shurmur better. I'm not sure how he'd be as OC.

Why, yes...yes there was. In 1999 Reid brought a shitty QB with him to Philly when he came. Guy by the name of Doug Pederson. He sucked. Badly. Idea was Reid would draft a QB and let Pederson run the team with his system until the new QB picked it up well enough to be competent. I think he lasted six games before the Eagles fans booed him off the field and not so humbly requested McNabb learn the job the old fashioned way...under center.

Mother****erJones 01-09-2013 08:12 PM

Its a new idea i like it. Well see. He wasnt good as a QB but he'll know how a QB thinks in situations so that may or may not help

WTF has Childress been here for two days then? He's not taking less than the OC.

I thought they were considering Penderson for QB coach?

The Bad Guy 01-09-2013 08:14 PM

Not a good QB, but has been with Reid a majority of the 14 years. Said to be a really upcoming offensive mind.

Remember, Childress got his start at QB coach too.

Childress is still coming on board, but he's going to be a senior offensive assistant/assistant HC.

I like the new approach. He's putting guys in place that are up and coming. It's not the same garbage retreads.

Mother****erJones 01-09-2013 08:14 PM

Chilly will be an advisor with Reid to Pederson

This doesn't mean Childress won't end up in KC. I'm sure he'll still end up here.

I don't think anybody knows really. Just wait and see what roles they get and we'll be good. Until then it's just a bunch of hear say.

Yes, he is.

They are hiring Matt Nagy for QB coach. Childress is going to be a senior offensive assistant/assistant HC (that's how he can make a move now while still under Browns contract) with a large amount of input.

Thats what I think too. Its new and i like it. Will wait and see though. He will have help between Reid and Chilly. Not like we hired Lovie Smith as HC and Pederson as OC

Why would Childress take a demotion? Thats makes no sense.

It's an unbelievable change. Seriously, going through that shitstorm last year to get these ****ing clowns out of KC was worth it.

Reid is being really aggressive with the DC search.

As Pat Kirwin said, Ray Horton would be a great hire. As I said last Thursday, there's a deep interest in Horton, and Reid did request permission to talk with him today. The Cardinals have yet to deny or allow.

That would be the slam dunk of all slam dunks.

But I do continue to hear Monte's name quite a bit.

This DC search is likely going to be quick moving.

Of course, my source is TBG :p

I'm all for this. He's going to have some very solid offense minds watching over things to learn from. It's much more important the DC can handle things on his own.

It's not a demotion. It's a pay increase and he's overseeing the offense, but Pederson is going to be calling the plays, and collaborating on the game plans with Reid/Childress.

Shurmur is not coming along.

Reid is not calling the plays as of today. That could change in September, but he's not planning on being the signal caller.

Interesting. If Horton wants the job, I cannot believe that the Cards would deny him permission to talk to KC. If someone doesn't want to be a part of pretty much anything (company, team, etc.), you let that person walk.

That's so different though. Romeo and company had shown nothing but reasons to not trust their ability to make a good hire or their actual reasons for doing so. With a new guy, especially one with a good reputation, comes some trust. Romeo was a good DC a few years back, but he never gave us a reason to trust his decisions hiring coaches. Not to mention that the actual decision would becoming from Pioli, which guaranteed that the decision would be made for the wrong reasons.

Good. Because he won't be the HC and we could use his skills here and I'm sure he sees a great thing being built here and would love to work with Reid in order to increase his credibility for a future HC position. Hopefully he recognizes this.
