Your biggest expenditures ever - what are they?

Here are mine:

1. House purchase (2nd home owned)
2. Kitchen/attic remodel of above house
3. Condo purchase (1st home owned - no longer have it)
4. Bathroom remodel and addition of above house
5. BMW purchase (used)
6. Infiniti purchase (used - no longer have it)
7. Landscaping project in above house
8. Woodwork restoration of above house
9. Ford purchase (used)
10. Vacation to India (You can spend a lot of money in India...)

I'm not counting tuition to college because I pretty much fueled that with scholarships. Overall, five of my ten biggest expenses have been my current house and fixing it up.

What are yours?

I couldn't say, but I'd bet it was something to do with a house. They're all notorious money pits. If I had my way, I'd live in a cave.

1. Computer I bought in the summer of '99 I think it was. I paid $2000 of my money that I earned (I was 14 at the time) to but a PC so I could get a couple of web-design contracts. I did and made the money back that summer.

Other than that, I've never bought anything over $400-$500. Which has allowed me to put away a good amount of savings for someone my age :)

1) My business
2) My house
3) Maxima (used)
4) Outback (used)
5) 4-Runner (used, no longer have it)
6) Prizm (used, no longer have it)
7) Tip to Japan
8) 42" Plasma TV

1. House (still living in it, and I'll probably stay until they take me out in a box)

2. Minivan (new) - still have it.

3. Finish basement of house above.

4. Saturn (car, not planet) - gave it to my sister-in-law at 110K miles

5. landscaping for house above

6. irrigation system for house above (including well)

After this, you're into the "a couple thousand dollars" range, into which category many things would fit, including computers, my primary TV, random other house projects, engagement ring (bought right after law school but before I had a good job, so I was pretty darn poor) blah, blah, blah.

Does my mrs count :(

ZepSinger 07-14-2006 09:26 AM

1. Current house
2. Last house
3. New minivan (in '98)
4. current pickup (purchased new in '93)
5. guitar/amp/FX/studio stuff purchase
6. Video production equipment for new business

It's a good thing the birth of my 3 girls were covered by insurance, or that total would be #3 on the list...

Yeah, but I wouldn't change it, though. She, and the critters, are worth every penny.
