My question for vali and MHM is how much longer do you give Shanahan?

My question is who out there would I rather have coaching the Broncos?
Nobody comes to mind.

Eh, you've just gotten comfortable with him.

We'll give you Gunther for a coach. We'll even throw in some Gates BBQ.

There's no one I'd rather have. I'd settle for Fisher in the absence of Shanahan.

He has it as long as he wants it.

Two seasons more at the least would be my guess.

So you don't think his message is getting stale and what if he doesn't make the playoffs again this year?

The reason why I am asking it is just hard to imagine giving a coach 10 years + with little or no success in that time frame. I understand he won 2 SB and that gives him some lee way but when does that start to wear out?

I am one of those fans that wants to see Shanahan leave on his own terms... he's not doing anything to bury the franchise. Is he looking crazy at times with the moves and firing of coaches? Sure, but I know he's not happy with being mediocre.

Shanahan hasn't won a title since Elway... I get that, but Denver didn't win a title until they got Shanahan. It was a perfect time for the franchise in that sense.

Since that time, Denver has not struggled like many other teams.

So, no... he hasn't been perfect, but he's been better than most coaches and I trust him.

Jeff Fisher has been in TN longer (half a season) than Shanahan... TN has 2 fewer titles and fewer total wins overall. Why is he still their coach?

Mile High Mania 02-29-2008 04:35 PM

The Cowboys haven't won a playoff game since the 1996 season and since Shanahan took over in Denver, the Cowboys have had 5 (yeah, 1-2-3-4-5) head coaches. WOW.

KC has had 4 head coaches.

Oakland has had 7 head coaches.

SD has had 6 head coaches.

Insane. Something has to be said for consistency...

I think that is a valid question. I honestly don't know but if I was a Titans fan I would probably be wanting a change right about now.

I definitely think there needs to be some consistency but when does the need to be consistent and the need to win a SB cross? For Shanahan he already has won 2 so I understand that buys him some time but look at Billick, he won 1 SB and got canned after 7 years and he had a couple of good teams in there somewhere.

They need better QB and RB play as well....their defense has been solid over teh years.

We'll see what happens this season.

Shanahan has been grasping at straws for a while, and his FA moves are mostly bad to absolute disaster....your drafts haven't been much better...

that's almost as funny as tacojohn's "Plumber will take us to the Stuperbowl"

And Ian Gold follows Walker out the door. Didn't they give him a huge signing bonus a couple of years ago?
