Free Ringplus (sprint MVNO) cellular service
http://slickdeals.net/f/6786838-ring...l-12-30pm-pst?
Ringplus, a sprint MVNO, will offer free sprint service * requires BYOSD (bring your own sprint device) * free 200 min, 500 SMS and 50 MB data every month * must place 1 outgoing call per wk, and 10 outgoing calls per month * offer available Fri Mar 28th, 2014 from 12noon PST until 12:30PM PST only. * they may charge tax per month. * this is not a government subsidized plan. check the above linked thread for more info or http://discourse.ringplus.net/ |
I've got a unlocked Pantech smart phone sitting around doing nothing but it sounds like it won't work on this service. Has to be a Sprint phone for some reason.
|
requires sprint phone because it uses sprint service. Sprint uses CDMA technology and thus has a registry of all devices allowed on their network (ESN list). Verizon pretty much does the same thing.
you can get a sprint phone for as little as $5 w/ free shipping or $20 for a smartphone @ gottagetaphone.com |
MVNO?
|
mobile virtual network operator
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile...twork_operator essentially a 3rd party reseller that (in this case) uses sprint's network. MVNO's tend to offer prepaid service. |

30 minutes to get a free cell service today.

There's one thing I've learned in life there ain't no free lunch and there will be a catch in this deal to just not worth having to find out what it is.

1. uses sprint CMDA service 2. no roaming 3. advertisement (generally music) instead of "ringing tone" you normally hear on an outgoing call. 4. no free mms. they charge $0.07 per mms. 5. currently no voicemail app (though they will send transcribed email/text of voicemail) think thats everything. |
btw, I have no incentive to shill for ringplus. I just figure that this might be a benefit to CPers since many are in the kansas city area, and thus many will have access to sprint phones and sprint coverage.
