Will the Profile hurt the Chiefs.

In contrast to the Chiefs, I think that by this point in the season most NFL teams would be in a big death spiral and the offense would be calling the D out (at least as an 'unnamed source within the organization').

Does DV's profile mean the team will continue to play hard and stick up for each other resulting in: (a) a worse draft position, and/or (b) retaining some players who shouldn't be retained, and/or (c) retaining some coaches (perhaps all of them) who shouldn't be retained?

DV's comment about Hicks having a good attitude during the 3 game losing streak comes to mind.

I'd say the "profile" already has hurt the Chiefs.

I totally disagree. The emphasis on "profile" players is the very reason I have hope for the future of this team. So this season went to the can. BFD! This record has been as much a fluke as last season's being undefeated in the first nine games. If not for a few calls and events that didn't go our way (the opposite of last year), this team would be damn close to another impressive record that wasn't exactly deserved. We still have a good nucleus of players and coaches to look forward to. Let's just enjoy this year game by game and hope CP either learned from last year's wasted off-season or will be replaced.

When an older coach like Vermiel or Gibbs struggles, people like to say that the game has passed them by. I think this type of statement is somewhat accurate when you look at the stubbornness of Vermiel in only seeking players that fit his "profile."

I think he's eliminating about 9/10's of the top WR's and CB's in the league because those are the positions where the players are typically flamboyant, brash, and cocky, and Vermiel doesn't like those types of guys. So we end up with Morton and Kennison at WR, and Warfield and Bartee at CB.

Vermiel wanted to keep Grbac. Grbac didn't want to stay in KC.
