Yup, Avast is 1 gazillion times better than the $500 norton symantec crapola.

Any Symantec product will slow your computer down to about half speed.

Free works great! Using it on all of my systems at home/work.

Start bookmarking all your favorite porn sites. But yes Avast is sooo much better it ain't even funny. Best real time AV program I've ever seen.

Dumb Question: Is running both MS Essentials and Avast redundant?

I used to run Avast, but it got too complicated for its own good. I've loved MS Essentials.

Just use Avast! if you want an AV on it.

Windows 7 comes with the Defender package built in. You don't need and 3rd party AV.

WinRAR

I just like to say that

WinRAAAARRRRRR

Remove all the bullshit software like McAfee and Norton.

This. Then install firefox or chrome and start getting all the addons, set up bookmarks, download all programs you need like VLC player and 7-zip

Does anyone ever use Norton or McAfee anymore? I delete that shit immediately when i get a new computer that has it installed. I just use Malwarebytes

I would suggest Winpatrol to manage your startup programs and secunia to manage program updates. I use both of the free applications. Winpatrol also has an option that shows what programs are running which is helpful if you get a virus.

1. take a pic of your new computer with a duck face to show off on facebook

listopencil 07-26-2012 04:11 AM

Put a gigantic Broncos sticker on it.
