What will the score be in the season opener

Chiefs under new leadership beat the hated raiders.

Chiefs - 31
raiders - 17

Great start to the season...

Dakota Chief...

I like the way you think.

(removing Homer glasses). I honestly don't know. No doubt, Chiefs will be underdogs (wonder what the line will be). The last two have been nail-biters. I know the crowd will definitely be up for this, but will the team?
I don't mean this to say lack of enthusiam for the home opener; what I'm saying is there are so many new faces as far as players AND coaches. This proud rivalry may not mean as much to the new guys, and the player leadership may not be as adept as pumping up the other players for this. Of course, that will only last as far as 5 minutes into the game, after every player has experienced the mandatory extra shove, late hit, or insults to mothers.
Both teams have rough schedules, so it goes without saying that this game will set a precedent for things to come.

Hoping Gannon's center won't even be able to hear the snap count...

The chiefs will be out for blood. They got beat in their own house by their former beloved qb.

Chiefs 45
Raiders 9

Warrior, unless I'm mistaken the early line on the game is that it's a pick'em.

My pre training camp pick is the same as Dakota's, 31-17 KC. Oakland is over-rated on both sides of the ball, in my opinion, and I think we'll play over our heads. The crowd should be a factor as well.

The last 4 meetings, the Raiders have averaged scoring 36 ppg and the Chiefs 31. Now, the Chiefs D is probably not as good as last year's, but Greg R has Gruden's # pretty tight. With a net slight increase in offensive capability, the Chiefs should win this one, but by an Arena-like tally of 44-41. The Raiders allowed Grbac to set a club record in passing offense in a game (504 yds) and really showed no signs of life on defense against KC recently. OTOH, the Chiefs D has allowed 36 ppg against the dinkster.

The good news is, the Chiefs hold the edge (I think) in total offense by a good chunk. If they can get a STs play (Go get 'em, Tony Horne!) or keep the dinkers in their own end of the field a few times (go get 'em, 'Ski!) I think we'll be in business.

Not a fan of arena ball

Interesting angle...

The Raiders are notoriously slow out of the box. I remember opening day in '98 where we thrashed them 28-8 and last year when they needed a TD in the last 2 min to beat the lowly Bolts 9-6.

From that angle, we win as Pam says, 45-9.

You GO, girl!

Spinning this thing in our favor;)

Man, I hope you folks are right...

Keg: no kidding? Interesting info on the current line...thanks. But I do love going into a game as the underdog (remembering Rams last year).

Chaplain: good stat analysis as usual, and good homer spin.

Hopefully, the team leadership can get the players "up" for this game as much as the crowd will be.

Or was that FG in the last 2 min to beat SD?

It's gonna be something to something....

Some combation of 6's, 3's, 1's, & 2's will compile the final score - I'm pretty sure about that.

All I know is that I'll be at the head and I'll not be able to speak on monday....

KCJohnny 07-20-2001 05:23 PM

Phobia's psychic hotlines has it 36-21 Chiefs.
What?
No 1-900 number?

NaptownChief 07-20-2001 05:35 PM

RBBC shows it's ugly head and Gunther waste 2 badly needed timeouts on ridiculous challenges and we lose 17-20....

Oh wait a minute, times have finally changed...

Chiefs romp 34-17

Spott 07-21-2001 09:02 AM

Chiefs 49
Oakland 2

F*&# the Raiders.
