Going to Dungver. Where to stay?

Finally decided on our annual pilgrimage to go watch our team and just booked the trip go watch the 9-0 showdown in Denver next month. Got game tix and airfare. Having never been there, where's the best area to stay? Needs to be close to bars/restaurants as I plan on much celebrating to be had. Don't mind taking a cab to the game, but need to be able to walk (or stagger) to drinking establishments.

Going with bro-in-law, sis, and the wife so recommendations on getlemen's clubs, while appreciated, probably won't be necessary.

Appreciate your tips and look forward to lifting a cold one with anyone else planning on being there to watch the forehead get crushed...

Go Chiefs!!!

Downtown. No where else but downtown. Near the 16th Street Mall.

I don't know, but please piss on that city at some juncture.

Don't piss on Rain Man. Feel free to go anywhere else.

I cannot wait until the day I get to watch a Chiefs game there.

There are only a handful of places that I have no desire to go watch a road game, and that is one of them.

we stayed at the embassy suites across from the convention center. very nice. cheap meter parking on the street between the hotel and convention center. minutes from Invesco.

I always thought that, too. This game could be one for the ages, though. Gotta be there...

The Curtis is cool in an eclectic/hipsterish sort of way. The Marriott is pretty okay, but the rooms are small. Sheraton is right on 16th street.

Really I would just pick the best rate that's not a slum.

Shia LeBouf! That place looks nice, but $1200/nt. for a suite?!?

Thanks for the recommendation. That looks like the area to be, anyway...

The last time I drove through Denver, we were on our way to Grand Junction to visit relatives and had to stop for the night. I was tired, but I kept going until we got past the city limits into Golden. I told my wife I would not spend the night in Denver, because if I happened to die in my sleep there my soul would not be able to ascend to heaven.

This is a fact.

(I always try to stay in Boulder with all the college kids)

Damn man, I have stayed in Denver before and never even thought about the potential ramifications of doing so. Glad I dodged that bullet.

Yet you'll stay where they brew Coors? :)

ClevelandBronco 10-16-2013 09:26 PM

Your wife might prefer Hotel Teatro or Hotel Monaco, but you'll have to stagger a shorter distance from the LoDo bars if you stay at the Oxford.

Try to get the suite where Sun Yat-Sen was staying on the night that China declared independence from Britain.

Oh, and every president but two have stayed there since Teddy Roosevelt. Only Obama and I think Coolidge didn't stay there.

Rooms are less expensive but yeah, it's the nicest place in Denver and costs more. Just thought I'd throw it out there.
Have a great trip!

MMXcalibur 10-16-2013 09:34 PM

I'll be there. If you see a Joe Montana Chiefs jersey, that'll be me. Buy me a beer.

I think I'll go Derrick Johnson this time. Gotta support the active players.

DaFace 10-16-2013 09:46 PM

I'd like to go to that game, but I'm not in the mood to pay $200+ for a ticket at this point. Oh well.

Pasta Little Brioni 10-16-2013 10:21 PM

The bottom bunk in Knowmo's room.

Sorter 10-16-2013 10:32 PM

With a girl from the Tilted Kilt.

houston_pressure 10-16-2013 10:33 PM

I hear Rain Man has a nice spare bedroom.

Didn't Obama at least stay there right before he becoming president?

Their brewery tour is kind of neat and all the cheap, watery beer you can stand to drink.

There was an article in the local business paper a couple of weeks ago about the hotel since it's going up for sale, and they said Obama never stayed there. Apparently he was scheduled to stay there during a visit, but he ended up switching hotels. I think it was during the Democratic convention, because they said that Bill and Hillary and several other high-ranking Democrats moved in instead.

Available at rates cheaper than the Brown Palace, and my room comes with a free box of Cap'n Crunch. It's kind of a bed and breakfast.

frozenchief 10-17-2013 12:22 AM

There's a nice Westin downtown. Stayed there for a meeting a year ago or so. I think there's a Hyatt as well. I prefer Hyatt, but Westin is fine.

BigMeatballDave 10-17-2013 05:06 AM

The parking lot of the Centennial Walmart wasn't bad.

Stayed there last night. No charge. :)

Cap'n Crunch?! Shit. I'll have to remember this next time I have a load to Denver...

Sit in a parked Pontiac Grand Am and masturbate near Invesco Field.
