Real talk, though: what was Cassel's best year?

The year Charles and Thomas Jones shredded shit on the ground.

He could play halfway decent with AP.

CASSEL VS. SMITH SUPERBOWL

Can you imagine though.

Getting to a Super Bowl.

And having Matt Cassel beat us.

I mean...you'd understand why people have unlawful urges.

Matt Cassel's personal safety in KC would be a real concern. There's some small chance that I would hate him more than Elway.

(But seriously, there's no friggen way.)

It would be great.

3 picks on screens, throw in a few fetal position sacks, and the finale of throwing a trash-time pass off the goalpost while down 38-12.

Going into 2012 with Orton/Russel Wilson/3rd Stringer would be jizztastic and you know it.

We would still have Failoli and Crennel.

Denver and Bears fans would be laughing at us the same way.

Put it this way... if we had a backup QB come in and complete his final 11 passes to put away a game, this board would be going nuts.

I'm saying there's nothing wrong with a QB like Orton or '08/'10 Cassel starting if a legit prospect like RW3, Tannehill, Kaep are waiting in the wings.

The Vikings fans apparently think they would be 3-1 right now if Cassel had started the season. They're an excitable bunch.

Bambi 09-30-2013 12:25 AM

Why would you start a thread talking shit on a QB that just won his debut?

Cassel had tremendous success under the only legitimate coach he had in KC..Charlie Weis.

There was a reason why Weis bailed on the organization at the time.

Strange thread to start here on CP. Worry about your own team.

Which Weiss had. Nothing to do with. Hes stated that it was all Haley that worked with castle. Its out there read up on it.

They might very well be. Ponder is terrible. One less mistake by the QB in two of their losses and they win those games. Cassel had success in New England and he just might in Minn. Kind of odd how Big Ben looks like "Bad Cassel" at times. Come to think of it,the Steelers offense sure looks a lot like the Chiefs did when Haley & Co were around...

IMHO, Warner made Haley in Arizona the same way the Hoody made Pioli & Crennel in New England. Not saying Cassel didn't benefit in New England because of all the talent around him, because he clearly did. He has A.P. and some weapons in Minn plus decent coaches. He just mught be adequate there.

whoman69 09-30-2013 07:20 AM

I can understand it. They have a young QB that will probably never reach the elite level and a veteran QB behind him that has had stretches of success. They don't know the entire story behind it. They are going to have a broken heart real soon, especially if they dump the young guy in favor of Cassel with a long term deal.

I said that about the defensive line. Yes I did. Glad they drafted Poe and signed Devito.

The line had zero talent.

Anything else?

and they might be right....Peterson made some comments on the presser and I don't recall verbatim, but indicating that Cassel brought a different presence to the huddle.

Halfcan 09-30-2013 08:09 AM

Herm Edwards was on 610 praising Cashole like an MVP. I could not stop laughing. Matt has "great length, and can beat teams with his arm and both his feet!"

All i can say is... good for Matt, he got to wash some of the stink off yesterday.

The worm will turn soon enough, but for now he gets to bask in a bit of glory.

The Hoody didn't make anyone anything in New England. This guy named Brady made everyone in New England. The Patriots deserve credit for drafting a QB in the 6th round and basically winning the lottery.

In the 2000 draft, only 1 QB was taken in the 1st round (Pennington) none in the 2nd round, 2 in the 3rd round, none in the 4th round, 1 in the 5th round, 4 in the 6th round (including Brady) and 3 in the 7th round.

It was a incredibly weak draft for quarterbacks, and they got lucky. If Bledsoe doesn't get hurt, there is a chance that Brady holds a clipboard for 3 years, and then bounces around the league, possibly never finding a system for his talents.

Without Brady their is no "Patriot Way"

lcarus 09-30-2013 10:57 AM

Pretty sure I said it in the other Cassel thread. He'll have an ok enough game to win with AP tearing it up, and they'll fall victim to his trap like we did. Good luck Minnesota. Good luck.
