Cool gift

After moving some furniture back in place now that th tree and all the decorations are down from chrisatmass, my son just discovered a gift from Santa that got wedged under the sofa.
I remembered buying it at a "Chapters" book store out west while I was there, then I guess it either slipped my mind, or got wrapped and forgotten.

Must say he loves the planes.
I never knew there were so many darn ariplanes you can make from a single sheet of paper...but then again Origami has been around for centuries I guess.
And no some of them ain't easy, still working on the "Thunderbolt"

Great way to kill a snow day....throwing paper airplanes around the house with my son watching the wife duck and dodge as the little fella shouts "Incomming" and lets another one fly at her

Ya just cant buy moments like these :thumb:

If ya figure out "Thunderbolt" let me know...tried 5 times still can't get the wings right.
The B-52 bomber looks wicked hard as well on the 17th

** It takes 2 or 3 to figure out the Valley and Mt. Fold

Neat how they do it, instructions for "yesterdays" plane are on the back of the current day's calander page

Just folded up a few new ones for the lil guy's "airport"
Kinda fun actually, never knew there were that many ways to make a paper airplane.
Only found 2 that gave me real trouble

The B52, and the Piggyback Shuttle were eaiser than expected.
The easy ones are not so easy sometimes, and the ones you figure will end up a ball of paper in the garbage, are dead simple.

BTW if ya can figure out Jan 26th "The Mirage" let me klnow????
Everythings great right up to step 6 tried it 4 times, there's gotta be a fold left out

Only problem I found over all:

Directions are easy enough once you figure out that sometimes they forget to tell ya to flip the paper.
Once you do 2-3 ending up with the graphics inside the folds of the plane, you get the hang of the blue dot...sometimes your given the direction to flip the paper, sometimes ya gotta find out the hard way.

Most generally the first fold showes the blue dot,
if #2 DONT, flip it.

Heres this mornings build:

Just giving this a bump.

How goes the plane building?
Just did 10 or so for the lil guy to throw at the wife in a sneak attack

I got one of those for my daughter a couple of years ago. While we don't do it every day, she brings me the box periodically and we fold up some planes. Best $10 or 15 I spent on a gift for her.

I got in trouble in 4th grade & was told to grab a magazine & go sit in the hall. I grabbed a science magazine went out to the hall & started thumbing threw it & found this.

Same here, I'll fold up 10 or so, let him fling them around for a few days, wait a while and make a few more.

The best paper airplane ever was the one where you 'oragami-ed' a thick triangle at the front of the craft, with just some stiffening folds on the outside to form the 'wings.' Like a really bulky 'SS Enterprise.'

ETA: Closed to 'piggyback jet' in gallery F.
