Could the Chiefs actually flip their first rounder twice?

I was listening to 1010xl Jacksonville radio and this was mentioned and made me think. First off I should point out that as a Jaguars fan I don't think I'd be on board with this due to the value of our 33rd pick and our needs but;

What if the Jaguars were to give up something like the 33rd pick (And MAYBE another later round pick) to flip picks with the Chiefs, and then the Chiefs ended up traded that #2 AGAIN for someone looking to snag a LT.

I guess it would really come down to if the Chiefs would need more to swap picks with the Jaguars, and if the 33rd + whatever they get for trading the #2 would be more value than what they would get trading the #1.

You guys are going to trade up for Joeckel? Sounds good to me.

#1 - Jags - Joeckel
#2 - Chiefs - Geno Smith

No dipshit. You flip it once. Now your first rounder is a #2 pick. Then you flip it with some later first round pick.

I didn't say flip with the Jaguars twice. I'm talking about a 2012 Rams situation.

you let the burger grill for a while then you flip it once. never flip it twice. never go full reerun

No.

If we aren't going to get Geno with 1.1, we can get a lot more value from another team like the Cards or Bills who really need a QB. We can get their 1 and 2 this year and their 1 next year. Once we move out of the #1 spot, the #2 pick is essentially worthless as the talent in the top 25 is pretty closely bunched together.

Keep dreaming. You're screwed.

No it isn't. And I said I wouldn't want us to trade our 33rd pick.

If the Dolphins can't bring back Long, they will need a good young LT.

There are three to choose from. They don't need to trade up to #2.

You're on the outside looking in.

The Jags have ZERO leverage in this draft.

Mile High Mania 03-15-2013 01:14 PM

Depends on the players they want and how the draft flows in R1... if they can move from #1 down and stay in the top 10 or low teens, receive a bounty in return - then trade down again to the high teens, low 20s - get more picks and still walk away with a nice player ... maybe it's worth the extra picks - definitely more cap friendly.

Long just left St. Louis without a contract. The Dolphins will probably re-sign Long now.

**** the jaguars

BossChief 03-15-2013 01:32 PM

Now the troll comes crawling back, begging for a chance at a trade up.

I would rather draft Geno Smith than have all the second round picks in the world...but if they are dead set on not taking a QB, then they need to trade back and extract the value of the top pick.

Fat Elvis 03-15-2013 01:34 PM

Basically, you're saying that Geno is worth a second round pick to KC?

LMAO
