Positional analysis

Quarterback: Elvis Grbac coolly brought the Chiefs from behind for the third straight week with precision passes to Derrick Alexander and Tony Gonzalez and made no mistakes. Grade: A.

Running backs: Kimble Anders joined the committee with determined running, and Mike Cloud broke out with strong runs to the perimeter and his first NFL touchdown. Grade: A-minus.

Receivers: Alexander bailed out his team with a 73-yard grab and capped the drive with an acrobatic touchdown catch for the second straight week. Grade: A.

Offensive line: Grbac had enough time to throw and the running backs had more holes than they've had all season, rushing for a season-best 136 yards. Grade: A-.

Defensive line: Eric Hicks terrorized John Kitna with three of the team's six sacks, but the run defense was porous, allowing a season-worst 189 yards. Grade: B-minus.

Linebackers: Marvcus Patton and Donnie Edwards were everywhere, combining for 22 tackles, but too many of them were after sizable gains. Grade: B.

Defensive backs: They followed the game plan by keeping everything in front of them, allowing no completion longer than 23 yards. Pat Dennis came up with another fumble recovery. Grade: B.

Special teams: Pete Stoyanovich missed another medium-range field-goal attempt, but Dante Hall provided field position with returns, and Todd Sauerbrun buried the Seahawks with solid punting. Grade: C-plus.

Coaching: Gunther Cunningham has his team believing in itself and believing it can overcome any deficit, any place, any time. Too bad the team is off this week. Grade: A.
