Hit Girl is the best. She is a cool character. The first one was good. I will see #2.

It looks like it did not do bad. It did go up against oprahs movie which would bring in her watchers.

No, it did poorly. It finished in fourth, behind We're the Millers and Elysium. It was a sequel that only did about 2/3 of the original. And it got savaged by the critics. I doubt we see a third, especially since the breakout character is growing up quickly and will certainly ask for more money, if she wants to film it at all.

Cost 28mil to make 13mil US, almost 7mil UK, has not opened everywhere else. So only 8mil to go to break even after the first week. But here is the kicker. Kickass makes all of its money on dvds. It will get close to 100mil or break it with world wide, again. Which is great for small films.. No idea why people keep saying it flopped. It is almost like the critics want shit to flop so we can keep getting transformers. |

This movie was pretty reeruned. The script was awful, the plot outright sucked. It was lifeless and barely entertaining. Running strictly on the evaporating fumes of success the first movie had. Kick-Ass turned into a wimpy douche, and Hit Girl was conflicted and inconsistent and couldn't carry the role. Jim Carrey had about 3 minutes of total screen time.
Spoiler!

It doesn't matter if the comic was any good. Their goal (ostensibly) was to make a good movie, not to make a faithful retelling of a comic book. If they couldn't change the story enough to make the movie work any better - which movies do all the time - they should've told a different story.
It had a couple of bright spots, but it really wasn't very good. The best superhero movie of the year so far (as far as I'm concerned) is still The Wolverine, which is hardly a ringing endorsement of the genre. |
