Favorite Roller Coaster of all time?
I'd have to say the Orient Express is my favorite of all time. I rode it for the first time in 1980 when I was 8 years old. I still have a t-shirt and some old pics somewhere of it. Great ride. I have been to many amusement parks around the USA as well. What are some of yours?
|
Went to cedar point about 6 years ago.. Man it was a blast. Top thrill, mantis, millennium force, and the raptor were all ridiculous
|
Zambezi zinger
|
Raging Bull at Six Flags Great America.
|
Tie between Millennium Force and The Magnum XL-220. The magnum has an insane first hill drop, it will give you extreme butterflies in your stomach.
|
Mr. Freeze...huge Mamba fan too, just love that coaster.
|
The Mamba.
|
I won't ride them - they're terrifying to me.
|
It was a long time ago, but Batman at Six Flags.
|
Dueling Dragons or The Hulk at Islands of Adventure
|
I rode one called 'The Crazy Mouse' at the county fair, I was terrified, and it was one hill and a circular topping. I'd never have considered The Orient Express. I have to admit - The Crazy Mouse scared the hell out of me.

Yeah the Orient at Worlds of Fun as awesome
I went to Disney World when I was little but I remember I really liked Space Mountain and Tower of Terror(not a roller coaster though) Mamba of course is great, that is probably my favorite especially when you get ready for the drop at the top |

The Tower of Terror sounds amazing - what was it, some sort of funhouse ride in a trolly?
Loved that flick Funhouse, very quality eighties film. |

I second the Tower of Terror but not sure its a roller coaster. It basically just drops. My favorite would have to be Mr. Freeze at Six Flags STL
|
Tatsu at Six Flags Magic Mountain.
The 2003 Royals. This Chiefs' offseason. |

As for my favorite, I'd have to say Apollo's Sun Chariot and The Alpengeist (sp?) at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA along with Sheik-ra (sp?) at Busch Gardens in Tampa, FL. I also went to a Six Flags back when I was about 10 with a couple of my aunts. I was young and have no idea where it was but I'm assuming it was somewhere in Northern Virginia or Maryland because that's where they lived. Anyway, they had just built this Superman roller coaster. I feel like I remember hearing that it was the tallest vertical drop on a roller coaster at the time, or some shit like that. That one was pretty good too but I was young so maybe it isn't really all that. |
I haven't been to an amusement park in years, but The Magnum at Cedar Point is probably it for me.
|
I'll always remember The Beast, King's Island, Mason, Ohio.

Millennium Force (Cedar Point)
Superman (Six Flags New England) Big Bad Wolf (Busch Williamsburg) Montu (Busch Tampa) Space Mountain (Disney World) My favorite was the large wooden coaster at Six Flags New England, when it was an independent park called Riverside Park. It consistently ranked as one of the best woodies. When SF bought the park, they shallowed the drop and ruined the coaster. |
I loved The Hulk at Universal Studios. I also loved the Aerosmith one in Disney World.
|
The Timberwolf at Worlds of Fun.
|
Shiekra in Tampa Bay Busch Gardens is pretty terrifying.
I need to ride one where you are strapped in from above and are laying horizontal to the ground. |

Cedar Point is the best and its not even close. So many great rides. Millenium Force, Top Thrill Dragster, etc

Big Bad Wolf was pretty dope too. One of the things I loved most about Busch Gardens in Williamsburg is the scenery. It is seriously beautiful with the shrubbery and flowers and all that. You can definitely tell they take pride in the appearance of their theme park. Anyway, if I remember right, Big Bad Wolf had a lot of its tracks over and throughout the woods in the area. Was kind of cool and fit the theme of the Big Bad Wolf. Quote:

Worlds of Fun really does have nice coasters.

Luv me some Roller coaster.
orient express and Zambezi zinger for nostalgia purposes nitro @ six flags New Jersey alpinegeist and apollos chariot at Busch gardens Virginia Powderkeg at SDC is a fun ride Prowler at WoF is also pretty sweet. The newer wooden coasters are fairly smooth compared to the old ones. There is a dualing woodie at Hersheypark in Pa. That was pretty cool. |

Six flags here in San Antonio is retracking their classic Rattler woodie with a steel track. Basically it's a wooden support structure with a smooth steel track. Even has a few loops. Should be pretty cool. They did the same thing with Texas Giant in Arlington.
|
I really liked The Hulk... great acceleration out of the turns. Top Thrill Dragster was great, too.... one second you're waiting to take off and a few seconds later you're 200 feet off the ground, thinking HTF did I get up here?!?
Mr. Freeze is the one that goes backwards, right? That one and Batman were pretty cool. |

The wooden roller coaster at Joyland in Wichita, KS.
I must have gone on that damn thing a thousand times. Sadly, Joyland has since closed and is now a prime target for vandalism. :( Here's a vid that someone posted... <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/GqvYA9BPhqA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> It might not look all that exciting in the vid, but it was in RL. That first drop was beyond awesome! Aw, memories. |

But yes, to this day, Busch Gardens in Williamsburg is the most beautiful, well-kept theme park I've been to. Even more so than its sister park in Tampa, although Tampa offers more in terms of wildlife. |
Thunder mountain at Disney world, i really hate heights, lol.
|
**** all roller coasters, they're all death traps. I won't go near them sons a bitches. Not even a ****ing Farris wheel. Death

Going to six flags in St. Louis in June. Looking forward to it. Cedar point is on my wife and I's radar. Locally, I love the Prowler. The Patriot is awesome. Like a Ferrari. Prowler is like a 4speed 69 Chevelle with a big block 454.
"Wicked"is the word the wife used for it |

We go to Hershey several times a year, because I live about 45 mins from it. It has a couple really good coasters. The new one is called Skyrush and it's probably one of the best ones I've ridden. Always loved Alpinegeist! |

The Hulk at US islands of adventure. Batman at six flags. At Opryland (RIP) there was the screaming delta demon and chaos which I liked when I was younger
|
Millenium Force (Cedar Point)
Dueling Dragons (Univ Studios Islands of Adv.) The Incredible Hulk (Univ Studios Islands of Adv.) Kingda Kha (Cedar Point) The Prowler (Worlds of Fun) Batman The Ride (Six Flags) I guess there's some Superman ride in CA that tilts you forward like you're on your stomach in the Superman "flying" motion. Have always wanted to try that. But I don't really want to go all the way out to CA to do it...if I happen to ever make it to the west coast I'll hit it up while I'm there..won't be anytime soon though. |

I really like Silver Dollar City for that region. Its a very well kept up family park. |

Rode Orient Express once - really liked it. My favorite current coaster is Griffon at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. It has two drops of greater than 90 degrees. Sons of bitches actually hang you 160 feet off the ground with the coaster dangling six degrees past vertical for about ten seconds then drop your ass. It's a rush, especially from the front and center seat. The car is only three rows deep but about 11 seats wide so out on the edge you aren't even looking down at track.
|
Shock Wave (SF over Texas) Because its a great, smooth ride that's damn near as old as I am. Been riding it for years.
Mr. Freeze (SF over Texas) Altogether my favorite theme park ride right now. |

and I can't believe WOF replaced the ZZ coaster w/ that POS Boomerang. I won't even waste my time waiting in line for that coaster. what a god damn disappointing decision by WOF to do that. At least on the ZZ that's a kickass tunnel and you can cop a feel on your gf if you want and blame it on you being scared of the dark or some shit. I really like the Patriot a lot, still would have liked to have WOF keep the Orient Express and the Patriot be put somewhere else because that (OE) was badass very underrated coaster IMO. The Boomerang....what a waste JFC. |

That is the one coaster I don't agree with on that list that I have rode on. |
