Spinoff: Hard Tacos vs Soft Tacos
 

This is a spinoff from the "Media Room Doors" thread. Which do you prefer?

Nobody should vote until they've had a proper ****ing taco.

Come on, this is Chiefsplanet. Chocolate Cake and Apple Pie were voted among the top desserts.

I prefer soft tacos, as long as they're corn tortillas and have some cilantro and onions on the side. Shredded pork or skirt steak is good.

I love all tacos it was really hard to choose, but my favorite taco from my favorite taco stand is a hard shelled beef taco. Therefore, I voted hard.

I ate at the awesomest taco stand ever when I was in Kauai. It was called Island Taco and it had some amazing Ahi Tacos.

For regular taco's I prefer hard shell. I do crave the flour taco at Tasty Tacos in Des Moines though. If I lived in Des Moines, I'd be 700 pounds by now.

For all the authentic Mexican around here, I can't imagine wanting to eat at Tasty...

They put all their fixings (cilantro, onions, grilled onions/peppers, grilled jalapenos, salsas, pico, limes) at a bar that you visit after you order. Then you decorate them as you see fit. Love it.

The actual taco comes with basically meat, and that's it.

I just walked into the front room, looked at my wife and said "Woman! Make me some tacos!"

She stood up, calmly looked me in the face and said "Go **** yourself. It's chicken cordon bleu night."

Soft FTW. The floppiness keeps more ingredients from falling out, and absorbs the juices (instead of having the hard taco funnel them all into your frigging hand). Plus the hard shells always end up breaking into sharp points and jabbing my gums. If I want hard tortilla I'll eat nachos.

A well made hard shell is the best. It's light, crunchy and not oily. There are only a handful of places that do this well. If a restaurant serves hard shells like you get out of a box, I'll go soft shell and then not go back.

Hard shells but I break them up and make a taco salad.

The one on the top is an Adobada Taco, the middle is a Carne Asada Taco, the bottom one is the Beef Taco, which is my favorite.

I'm sort of disappointed. I order this exact item from the taco shop all the time and the 2 soft tacos are usually corn tortillas. They must have run out or something.

That's a good-looking hard shell. You can tell fried up a legit tortilla.

Yup, and it's fried after you order it. I had to wait 10 minutes after I ordered to get it, but it's ****ing great food and worth it.

A soft taco is smaller and thicker. A fajita is large and thin and specifically filled with smoking hot meat and veggies from a hot platter.

If you want green hot sauce, you order enchiladas mother****er! ROFL

I live in meat packing country - the population around here is a little under HALF Mexican. And it doesn't come close to San Diego.
