Hey All, Asking for Some Help...
Hey guys,
As most of you know, I participate each year in the Autism Walk for the Autism Society of Nebraska. Last year, (mostly due to you wonderful people) we raised the most funds for my Son's team, (5,000). Well, it's that time of year again and I would definitely appreciate any help you guys could give. Our goal is 500 this year. Last year, (since we got the most donations) Hunter was able to meet some of the players for the Omaha Storm Chasers and he was given a butt-ton of awesome gifts. Most of you know that he just adores baseball. He loves the Chasers and of course, the Royals. Hunter is on the high end of the autism spectrum. He is still battling with speech but the improvements he's made in the last year are just amazing. He's very independent, loves sports and the outdoors. He's exceedingly brilliant and due to programs like this, he will continue to improve. His teachers tell me that he is now the example for all parents of Autistic children that join his program. He continues to exceed expectations and it's due to the time and effort of his instructors and counselors have put in. They have so much more access to materials because of the Autism Society. Due to his speech issue, I never would have expected him to initiate conversations but he is now doing exactly that. He also, (unprompted) told me he loved me just a few weeks ago. That is highly unusual but just shows his progress. He understands emotions and knows how to appropriately use his words to express them. Anyway, I really appreciate everyone's help and thank you all again for what you did last year. I obviously don't expect that kind of response but whatever you guys can do would be great. Please let me know if you do donate so I can thank you all personally. Oh and just an FYI: If you do not want to donate online, I can accept donations for you and submit checks/money orders in person on the day of the event. We had that issue last year with a few donations. Just PM me and I can give you my address. Thanks again guys! Link to Hunter's Page http://give.autismnebraska.org/image...123.custom.JPG |

This is the worst time of year for me as I'm just getting started back up after being off of work for 3 months. That said I'll find a way to get something in next week. Please bump this because while I love you guys, work is keeping me very busy. A PM would be welcome since I at times go a couple of days without logging in sometimes. I'll make sure to make it happen though.

My son is 3 and is attending Baudhuin. I had to go through a lot of shit to move into the their zoning.
It's because of people like you that programs like Baudhuin exist. Thank you. |
I didn't know that your son had autism. Great to see that he's doing so well with treatment.
Little success stories like that is why I do what I do. |
Thank all of you. Tell you what... I'll go ahead and set up a paypal and update the OP tomorrow.
As always, love you guys. Thanks again! |
Some of the coolest kids you'll ever meet have Autism. I wish I lived closer so he could have the best speech teacher in the world!
Does Matt Fields play for the Storm Chasers? I just met him the other night at my house. He is actually staying across the street from my house as he is their nephew and he's down for Spring Training with the Royals and stays with them to save money. I know he's in the higher minor leagues somewhere but not sure where? He seems like a super nice guy and I wonder if he could do something special for Hunter if I could set it up and you were willing? Just a thought. |

He's always been affectionate and has great eye contact. He initially showed brilliance with math but now it seems to be shifting to things like organization and memory. For instance, I brought home my laptop for the first time in almost 2 years. He pointed at it and asked to play a game he used to play when he was 3. Very eerie and just awesome. This function was a huge success story for the walk last year. Hunter brought in 10 times the amount expected and it was mainly due to you all. He even made the local paper. |

I'll find out. Not sure if he plays there or not. |
