25 ON
Artist: THE RAINMAKERS [N110332] $14.99

The Rainmakers return after 14 years with a true return to form: traditional rock n'roll about all the non-traditional subjects - politics, turpentine, religion, friendship, delivering newspapers, dying, dogs, driving in the snow, going down swinging, and one about girls. Sense of humor intact, and sense of heartbreak within reach, the Rainmakers deliver it all with meat-and-beer guitars and drums. And a little piano. This is real, this is fun. Real fun. Original members Bob Walkenhorst, Pat Tomek, and Rich Ruth are joined by Jeff Porter on guitar and piano. Worth waiting for.

Very cool. Bob and Ben (the guy who made the video) are customers of mine. Good tune too!

The lyrics are great especially for those of us getting up in age,I love the line,"If I trip and fall I'm gonna pass it off as dancin'"

These guys were at Knuckleheads last night and put on a great show. Perfect weather too. Was anyone else there?

Deberg_1990 05-20-2012 08:34 AM

KC Confidential had a story about these guys the other day. Basically how they should have been bigger.

The wife and I were there last night. Awesome show. The band seemed to loosen up a lot from last years shows. Bob was back on step again.

Did anyone catch the exchange between Bob and Mancow after "Like Dogs". He said something like, "this song isn't about you". Anyway Mancow created some drama with his KC Confidential story for sure.

Ha. I didn't see it. I didn't know about the KC Confidential story until this morning when Deberg posted it. I just assumed the song was about Steve Phillips although I have no idea whether his leaving the band was amicable or bitter.

I am pretty sure Bob didn't write the song about Steve. Steve was just too busy with The Elders when Bob got the band back together. There are rumors that Steve will actually join The Rainmakers for a song or two when both bands headline Parktoberfest this fall.

OK, that's cool. I had no idea what their relationship was like.

Thanks man. I saw them in 89/90 at Memorial Hall. Missed them in Smithville around that time. Had tickets just couldn't get up there in time. Did run into a fella on the way up there that said his friend got in a fight with Eddie Money.

The Rainmakers are back at Knuckleheads here in KC tonight. Last year's show was great. Unfortunately, I've got another commitment so I won't be able to go.
