I would take that over hearing about Fescoe's dog, Bill Maas' prostate and Kevin Keitzmann's general idiotic disposition.

Really? My sound quality is way better and as for the commercials I know they're the same but when they come back it's football talk and not a bunch of bs I could do without.

810 is the worst about that. "Where you going golfing tonight?" "How was that lunch you ate on break?" "We have Jack Harry here but lets play catch up about our personal lives for the first five minutes."

I'd say less than 20 out of every 60 minutes are actually "sports talk." If they're not doing a commercial talking about buying jewelry, it's a divorce lawyer telling you how to get your ring back! Throw in a little porn music wile you wait for the host to get back from the pooper, and nearly 40 minutes have gone by. Add the "sports news update" and there's even less time the sports talk guys have talked sports!

No disrespect 610 and 810 station lurkers, y'all are awesome (ask yourself!), but it's just a question I've had for a while...

Does Kevin Keitzman blabbing with the BBQ guy count as sports?

Houston is not too bad.

WWL 870 in New Orleans is ****ing horrible.

First 10 minutes of the hour news and traffic.
then some sports
commercial
sports
commercial
sports
commercial at bottom of the hour and traffic update

total in all about 15 minutes of sports talk

all commercials

Don't know who that is.

I listen to 790 most.

That station is HORRIBLE. I am so glad 98.7 is going strong, although 98.7 took a MAJOR step back adding Jim Rome from noon to 3.

No. It's not. FCC doesn't regulate content EXCEPT for indecency/obscenity and a few special little things, but as a rule, the FCC stays out of it. As it should.

Time it. Every 'Commercial" radio station in the country is about 43-45 mins of content. 12-15 mins of commercials and little extras. If a radio station played 40 mins of commercials, they wouldnt be around very long. Also, image production isnt commercials. Thats the little fun shit you hear with the station call letters in it. Thats imaging, not commercials. In other words, thats content as well.

EDIT:
Now, if you are traveling during the time where they are most apt to play commercails, that may be why you are under the impression thats its more commercials than content. For instance, our "Stop Sets' (Commercials), are 6 mins a piece at 20 after the hour and 40 after the hour. So if someone drives everyday from 8:15am and arrives at work at 8:45am everyday, trhen they are going to hear more comercials, then say someone who leaves at 7:50am and gets to work at 8:30. those people will only hear 6 mins of commercials.

Actually that might be it, I leave the gym at around 6:40'ish in the morning and get into the parking garage around 7:20 (give or take for traffic). So that could be it.

Either way, even when a Low-T add isn't playing, or the hosts talking about something other than sports, the actual time spent on content still seems low... I'll get over it I'm sure...

Don't forget, different people have different ideas on what content IS. If they're talking about something sports related that YOU aren't into, you mentally push it into the "commercials and other bullshit" file in your mind. The next guy has a completely different outlook.

Point taken, but I'll do what I can to count basketball talk as "sports" talk. It'll be a challenge, but I think I can do it... :thumb:

Sports talk radio isn't always just sports, really on any channel. Sometimes, they do talk about subjects. Sports talk is just the predominate topic.
