I never played the second one... the first is in my top 10 games of all time.

That's some game called Invisible War. Clearly it has nothing to do with Deus Ex.
|
I think i was thinking of the port of the first one to the ps2 so gochiefs is right but it was released on xbox and pc

I'm with GoChiefs. I'd rather pretend that there was never a sequel to Deus Ex.

Positive reviews are pouring in.
You can complete the game without firing a bullet. Excited about this: Quote:

I got this one for free for buying a 6870.
|
Just rented it. About to throw it in.
|
I've gotten into a bad habit in the last year/18 months of buying games and then letting them sit on my hard drive. So my new policy is going to be waiting and buying GOTY editions later on. Might as well save on the inevitable DLC. So this is the first one getting the 'show some restraint' treatment. Ditto for Skyrim, if I happen to go against my gut and play it.
|
Never played the first one for some reason even though I love cyberpunk, and this one wasn't even on my radar until I started reading some of the reviews yesterday. Downloading it now, can't wait to play it tonight.
|
Guys... why is there alien 3?? There was no alien 2..

About to sit down to the new Deus Ex game....loved the first one, never played the second. Am I in for happy times? Or can I skip the loading screens and just get right to punching myself in the groin?
|
Everything I'm reading is positive.
Please report back...I want to know mostly about the level of conspiracy theories injected into the plot and locations. |
Picking this up on Friday.
What do you think so far, third eye? |
Played it for a couple hours, and it's really great so far. A little more difficult than I expected. Definitely worth picking up, and I mean buying over renting (or torrenting).

It is hard to respond to questions about the story as even at 15 hours in, I feel like I'm just starting to get into it, which is a good thing. Im the guy that does every side quest and explores everything, so it takes me awhile to work through a game like this. The conspiracy stuff is just starting to be overtly discussed, but anyone familiar with the series will be able to read between the lines of some of the dialog and abundance, and I mean abundance, of text (email, ebooks, etc). In fact, the word "illuminati" hasn't even been used yet, though right before my last save my character says "thank you for illuminating me," which feels a bit like foreshadowing. As far as locations go, I've been in Detroit the whole time so far, but am getting ready to go to my next city. There definitely is plenty to do and plenty of ways to do them. The versatility is nice. Both in terms of ways to attack a certain objective, and in terms of your skill trees which really allow you to play the game the way you want. Certainly not the deepest game ever in this regard, but no slouch either. The graphics can be hit or miss, from some excellent cutscenes and special augment power animations, to some rather drab and boring city textures. I should mention that I've seen a few, not many and not really a problem, graphical glitches as well. Overall, a really good game that I would recommend to everyone. |
if you are buying it for PC, do not buy it at gamestop. Gamestop has opened each one up and took the insert that gives you access to the game on another computer. I don't understand how that's not illegal, but I guess it's not.
|
Yeah, I always liked them, but they only had about two or three good songs, EVER.

This game is freaking awesome.
I'm getting lost in Detroit and I don't care. |
So what are the maps like? Are they open world sandbox, or more on-rails? Do you just go from one mission to the next, or do you get side missions and stuff like that?
Really interested in this one. |

Best part is killing random hobos with the takedown move just to see the cool animations.

Now I'm lost in Hengsha....this some straight up blade runnah shit, yo.
The level of detail is incredible...and I love hearing hobos whistling the original Deus Ex theme. |

The whole game is one giant inside joke made up of smaller inside jokes.
I lol'd the first time they started talking about back-tracing. |
And Barrett with the machine-gun arm.
|
I keep bodies in that safe behind the tv.
|
|
|
|
I just bought it for PS3. I know that it's probably better on PC, but I have a tough time getting myself to play games on the computer.
|
Best augmentations to start with? I'm guessing increasing inventory?
Posted via Mobile Device |
Yeah.
Make sure you get the icarus landing system, and max out the arm augmentations. You only need to fill out a couple of the hacking aug slots to be a master hacker. |
Final boss was pathetic.
Make sure you sit through the credits, though. Cool game. Now give us the original Deus Ex with Deus Ex: HR graphics and cover system. |

DLC announced
The Deus Ex: Human Revolution conspiracy grows deeper in The Missing Link. During lead character Adam Jensen’s quest for the truth in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, he mysteriously vanishes for three days. Where was he? What did he find out? The Missing Link reveals it all. "We are very excited for Deus Ex: Human Revolution fans to be able to complete Adam’s journey in the game with The Missing Link DLC," said David Anfossi, producer of Deus Ex: Human Revolution at Eidos-Montreal. "Gamers will be able to experience a vulnerable side of Adam like never before, which gives the overall game a whole new dimension. The Missing Link propels players into compelling gameplay, beginning with Adam being stripped of his use of augmentations, new, visually stunning environments and the continuation of Deus Ex: Human Revolution’s conspiracy rich story.” After being tortured by Belltower agents and having his augmentations disabled, Adam Jensen must rely solely on his basic capabilities to escape from a freighter, destined for an unknown location. While fighting for his survival on the ship, he uncovers another layer to the conspiracy that he never would have suspected. As Adam, gamers will befriend new, mysterious allies and fight ruthless enemies to discover what was happening in the shadows during the events of Deus Ex: Human Revolution! |
So it's already grossed $30 million.

The only people who don't like this game are idiots pining for the nostalgia of the first DX....which highly boring in comparison. |

You should play the first DX.
The second one is awful. This is a prequel to the first DX. |
This should make frazod want to play.

I hope frazod has fun.

I'm enjoying it. Taking some getting used to, though, especially after playing Fallout for the past couple of months. Not used to the firing-from-cover commands, and you definitely need to use them.
|
You're using the mouse and keyboard, I hope.
Hold the right mouse button when you're up against a wall or a flat surface. A or D key to peek out to your left or right when you're at the edge. W key to go over the top if you're behind a box or a fence. You can also set the right mouse button to toggle mode if you don't want to hold it. |
