Verizon
I just got off the phone with Verizon. I have an old ass Iphone 4 and it needs updated. My plan has unlimited data, which I use. A lot. Gal on the phone told me if I change my phone, even if I bought a new phone elsewhere and just had them activate it, I would not be able to keep unlimited data.
Is that shit right? Anyway, if it is, I need to find something other than Verizon. |

Yeah, Verizon blows. Not news. However, I still need phone service.

Unfortunately no one else has unlimited data. Still sitting on my GNex for this reason.

Even if you have unlimited data EVERY phone company throttles your Internet connection once you surpass a certain limit. They will **** you one way or another.

I am actually in the exact same situation, but I was talking to a guy at Verizon the other day. Told him, I'm ready to get an upgrade (Mine upgrade date was 10/08/12), but didn't want to lose my unlimited data. He told me, if I have another phone that is available for upgrade, to order one for that phone. Then when it comes in the mail, just set it up as mine. He said this would allow me to keep my unlimited date, but the line I upgraded would be stuck with that phone for 2 more years. Also told me if I bought one out right, it wouldn't change my unlimited status.

I'm crunching some numbers on what it would cost me in different plans for me and the wife. |
So what kind of plan is everyone running? I looked at getting a different plan at ATT Verizon and Nextech and they are all within $5 of each other and what I'm paying now.
I thought about moving the wife off my plan and to Straight Talk, but that would only save me $40 off my plan and cost $50 for her new one. I'm thinking the most equitable thing to do is move to a share everything plan with the wife and use the upgrade on my phone. |
Have you ever had ATT service in KS? I have and I would never do so again. Unless you're near a good sized city your service is terrible. I switched from ATT to Verizon, and couldn't be happier with regards to coverage. It's worth the additional cost to me. No clue about Nextech though.
I've got a simple plan through Verizon, unlimited talk/text, and 2GB data per month. It suites me just fine, but I'm near wifi pretty frequently. |

The difference between me and you is I am rarely around wifi. |
Do an alternate upgrade.
