What salad greens do people prefer? Iceburg? Romaine? Radicchio? Kale? Swiss Chard?

Romaine. Iceberg is OK on chicken sandwiches. Romaine on burgers, though.

My salads usually consist of a few squares of lettuce, some cheese, some chopped ham, some more cheese, some bacon bits, more cheese, some raisins, yep more cheese, dressing and croutons.

My Salads aren't very nutritious.

Me too!

Although I've never heard of anyone putting raisins on a salad.

Mandarin oranges work well too. And apples, and grapes, hell..just about any fruit. Just gotta switch up the dressing...a Rasberry vinagrette works well.

Not too many salad bars offer raisins. But they do add some nice flavor to the salad.

I don't know why but I can't stand raisins. My wife and kids love them.

Sounds like you like a little lettuce with your pork products and cheese. You can starve to death eating most salads. It takes more calories to chew it than it contains.

Not really. But if I don't put at least a little lettuce in it, I feel I can't really call it a salad. The lettuce gives me that feeling of nutrition that a salad needs.

Hammock Parties 01-13-2005 10:18 PM

I actually like quite a bit of lettuce. Then I just put some feta cheese in and a little italian dressing.

Which Indian restaurant? I can give you the best Indian in Houston - not too far from you, either.

Just thought I'd throw this in. What you like and I hate can be due to the preparation of the food. The best example is brussel sprouts. A LOT of people hate them. I LOVE them. But I will only buy them fresh or frozen and you MUST NOT overcook them. Restaurants tend to cook up the whole day's needs in the early AM and serve them all day. They are mushy and taste like shit. So people hate them. But cooked right, they are great. I won't order them in restaurants.

Probably the same with asparagus even though it only takes a few minutes to prepare.

Nutrition? From lettuce? Put some in a bowl and smash it with a spoon a few times. Nothing but water. That's why I say you can starve to death eating it. Chewing it takes more calories than it contains.

Them rabbits you're talking about are probably grain fed by their owners. Wild rabbits aren't fat but they eat whatever they can steal from the farmers. The criminal basserts.

Hammock Parties 01-13-2005 11:47 PM

Indian food burps are the best.

Mr. Kotter 01-13-2005 11:53 PM

I had the pie sampler today:

Quiche for breakfast

Chicken Pot Pie for lunch
Strawberry Pie dessert

Shepard Pie for dinner
Apple Pie ala mode

Top that, Yo. :harumph:

Right now I'm having some garlic chicken with spinach and a piece of bread.

BUT I ONLY EAT HOT POCKETS.

Phobia 01-14-2005 06:58 PM

Damn, I should have taken a picture.

Tonight I had Filet, Crab Cake, and mashed cauliflower.

It was spectacular.

PastorMikH 01-14-2005 07:24 PM

I'm still trying to decide. Probably need to make up my mind soon since the 2 kids that are at home are griping about being hungry.:)

David. 01-14-2005 07:36 PM

I had a ham and cheese sammich!

Phobia 01-14-2005 09:07 PM

Dude - do you have any spices beyond salt and pepper?

That pork chop looks bland as hell.

Hammock Parties 01-14-2005 09:08 PM

I don't know why, but I don't like pork chops.

PastorMikH 01-14-2005 09:11 PM

I'm feeling stuffed.

Yum. I wish I had lobster bisque.

I had some KC Strip and some cheese sticks with a cilantro/herb spicy dipping sauce.

It was quite tasty.

Bowser 01-15-2005 09:21 PM

I had some steak quesadillas and a sirloin steak cheese sandwich from 54th Street Bar and Grill. It was a waste of money.

I wish I'd had steak. But I had a big meal for lunch, so the soup was enough.

BTW, the brand of the bisque was Phillips Seafood Restaurants. It was really good (unlike some canned bisques which were nasty). Anybody who likes it should check the frozen section for it.

Wasp 01-15-2005 10:26 PM

I'm a new guy here...

But I had Hayward's Burnt ends and sausage sampler platter, a large smoked turkey sandwich w/ fries, and a side of smoky baked beans.

Fire soup here.

It is a smokey spicey soup with good meat flavor, lots of mild peppers, onions, beans, beef and tomatoes. Tastes like a fire between the smoke and spiciness.
