I do appreciate the respect and I am not one to take respect lightly, let alone flush it down the toilet as though it doesn't matter!
What I fought for? I left the USMC as an E-6 after giving 8 years of my life because I realized ( through discernment ) what I believed was worth giving my life for and what my children were having to sacrifice for, doesn't exist in this country any longer. I usually stay away from DC type topics because of my passion for this once Great Nation. This morning I slipped. Should had stayed away from commenting in this thread. Again Sorry for offending you guys! Go Chiefs! |

The energy it takes to move a big boat at 45 kts is astounding. The reactor had to be glowing. |
No worries...
It is kind of funny though that Russia is building up their Navy with more nuclear submarines. I think that time is long gone.. are they really going to start blowing off nukes at everyone? Bunch of crazy bastards. Of course, I wish it was more about disarming the nukes, but then the nuclear material would probably just be sold to Iran anyway. |

One nuclear submarine = Entire conventional force I was surprised to see how much money they were putting into their subs. |
I read this and my first thought sounded like something out of a Clancey book. Loved reading his submarine chase/battle/hunt scenes...

You're wrong. Not just my opinion, just plain, obvious fact. WE spend over 40% of all dollars spent in the world on the military. Let me say that again: for every 60 cents spent by everybody else in teh world combined, we spend about 40 cents. http://cdn1.globalissues.org/i/milit...ution-2011.png We spend more on the military now, in inflation adjusted dollars, than we did during the Cold War. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...seSpending.PNG We also spend more than twice as much on the military as China, and about TEN times more than Russia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...y_expenditures http://www.globalsecurity.org/milita...d/spending.htm I'll stop there and stop arguing political stuff in this thread as I don't want to be the guy who gets it bounced to DC, but I couldn't let that one pass. The consistent unbelievable ignorance about US military spending is just incredibly annoying. |

The "Oscar" class sub was designed for one thing: to destroy an Aircraft Carrier.
