I can't understand why you would buy a car like that and then not drive it. It's great for collectors now, but that guy deprived himself of enjoyment.

alpha_omega 03-14-2014 04:08 PM

Awesome.

Bowser 03-14-2014 04:09 PM

According to the article, there are people questioning the authenticity of the car being all original. Still, that's one hell of a find. Too bad this guy didn't have anyone to will it to. Damned shame, actually.

Chief_For_Life58 03-14-2014 04:26 PM

god car guys are gonna go ape shit for that thing. all original only 8k miles ...like starving dogs fighting over a steak

Chief_For_Life58 03-14-2014 04:28 PM

that is really awesome tho btw....i think the best recent car story was that old couple that used to own a dealership in some small town in Nebraska i think. they closed but kept all the cars ina warehouse. bunch of em with under 100 miles. crazy

MIAdragon 03-14-2014 04:34 PM

Its a shame, cars are made to be driven, enjoyed.

that.

I was at a car show last year and there was a '70 Chevelle SS with a 454; red with black stripes. with 583 miles on it.

of course, who knows if that's legit, but the dude had all sorts of shit framed with the car; original window sticker, etc.

I can't imagine buying a new Vette and just driving it once a month for 10 miles a pop.

ModSocks 03-14-2014 04:44 PM

Usually guys who can afford a car like that, can afford to buy more than one or buy cars that are just as enjoyable to drive, allowing them to just store one.

Dayze 03-14-2014 04:44 PM

this is true.

I was about to type something to that effect.

I bought a 2005 Mustang. It was the first year of the first retro remakes of the muscle car era. People told me to not put miles on it, it could be valuable some day.

I got 135K on it now. Enjoyed the hell out of it as a cool drivable car. Too many people see money to be made on a car instead of just enjoying the ride.

A buddy of mine bought a 2014 Mustang Shelby GT500, the souped up one with 660HP. He takes it out on nice days, but overall he looks at it as an investment for down the road thinking that some hardcore collector is going to come looking for such a vehicle 20 years down the road.

Dayze 03-14-2014 05:12 PM

yep; and honestly there are probably only a handful of cars that people would want to collect in the future. at least in terms of hitting the mother load.

Donger 03-14-2014 05:13 PM

I've got my eyes on a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder right now.
