Chiefs announce Bray as the backup QB

http://arrowheadaddict.com/2016/05/2...p-quarterback/

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid made a surprising declaration on Tuesday afternoon.

The Chiefs are still a little more than two months away from the start of training camp in St. Joe’s, but we already have some very interesting news on the depth chart front.

Reid has proclaimed that Tyler Bray, not Aaron Murray or Kevin Hogan, is entering training camp as the primary backup quarterback to Alex Smith. Murray was a fifth-round pick back in 2014 while Hogan was a fifth-round selection in April.

Despite being an undrafted free agent in 2013, Bray has stuck on the roster but never appeared or been active for a game in the regular season. He was placed on injured reserve last year after sustaining a torn ACL in a pickup basketball game.

Bray has all the physical tools you could want. He’s 6-foot-6 and 215 pounds and at 24 years old, might finally be seizing the moment after sitting behind Chase Daniel and Murray.

It will be fascinating to see if Bray can hold off Murray and Hogan in camp, not having thrown a competitive pass in two years.

Very misleading title.

How do you figure? It is now his job lose. Open competition or not.

The Chiefs didn't "announce" that Bray was the backup QB and it's only the first day of ****ing shorts and Tee shirt practice.

Silly.

They took a quote from BJ Kissel that read "Andy Reid says Tyler Bray is the #2" and turning it into something it's not.

As I mentioned in the OTA thread, Eric Kush was the starting center last year after Morse was drafted and that lasted less than a week in Training Camp.

The Chiefs are giving Bray just enough rope to hang himself. The ****ing guy hasn't been on a football field since August 2014.

What it does mean is that he should be getting all the reps that the number 2 would get and that he jumped Murray on the depth chart.

It means they're giving him a chance to shit or get off the pot.

They have nothing invested in him other than time. No signing bonus, no guarantees, no draft spot.

I didn't know this was in the OTA thread and I am surprised that no one has made a thread about it before now.
It is the QB position and that is a hot topic.

I honestly wonder if people became so accustomed by tunnel-visioned idiocy from leadership in this organization that they simply don't recognize intelligent management when they see it.

Yet he jumped over Murray. If it had been Murray as the #2 which is what most everyone expected then it would be no news, but instead a guy that hasn't been on the field as you mentioned is now the #2 QB on the roster ATM.

He's a ****ing guy that hasn't played a down of football since 2013 and went undrafted. He's landed on IR the past two seasons and by all accounts, is dumb as ****.

The Chiefs drafted Murry and now Hogan. Bray's been given opportunity after opportunity (at a very small cost) and he's been unable to prove that he's worthy of an NFL roster spot.

This is his last chance with the Chiefs. Impress or get cut.
