When will we begin to see players released...?

Pretty straightforward.

How soon can Reid begin to trim the roster down? Does he have to wait until the season is over before he can starting cutting players....?

First up save $17 million cutting Tyson Jackson.
Next Cassel and his $10 million

I think that if he waits until the new league year starts (after the Superbowl), then the cap hits from releasing players can be spread over two seasons. Reid can be cut players before then, but the full cap hit would have to be absorbed on next years cap.

restructure Jackson to make it easier to cut him. Release Cassel unless Reid wants to try to work with him

Hasn't it always been that if you cut them as soon as you can, you take the entire cap hit now. If you wait until after June 1 or something you spread it out over 2 years.

This. WE flush this big contracts with bad players and we have plenty of room to resign bowe and albert, and even dorsey if no other option is available. All while still being able to lure some FA's and sign our rooks. We shouldn't have any problems with salary cap this year.

I look for a T JACKED THE **** UP restructure.

We probably won't because we should rollover a nice cap credit again. That said, cutting Jackson and Cassel won't completely remove them from the books. We'll carry a cap hit on the proration of their signing bonuses. We'll take the full hit on Routt but it's not too bad.

I think Demorrio will fall off our dead money after this season and Dorsey's expensive contract will be off the books. Hopefully new mgmt can get something done with our existing big name FAs.

Pretty sure that Belcher signed a one year deal on a RFA tender last year.

No hit to the 2013 cap.

I see what you did there

I thought Cassel made 7 mil next year with a 5 mil hit if we released him?

bevischief 01-06-2013 01:15 PM

The start of the 2013 season March 12.

No. We can cut him and not have to pay him a dime.
