***Official St. Louis Cardinals 2013 Postseason Thread***

The Season thread has started crapping out. Post about the Birds here.

allen_kcCard 10-04-2013 11:47 AM

Mucho better

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2013 11:52 AM

Lynn's body language is just horrible. He looks completely defeated after every baserunner. The deep exhale and slumping of the shoulders after Morneau's hit is unacceptable.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2013 11:54 AM

****.

Could Alvarez kill us any ****ing more? Goddamned .230 hitter that K's his ass off, and we just constantly serve him BP.

Belt high bullshit. And now Lynn is nibblig. **** this ****ing ****.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2013 11:56 AM

Lynn, get ****ing dead.

Exhibit 1,592,294 that Matheny sucks a fat dick. Lance Lynn is NOT our second best pitcher but Matheny was romanced by the recent numbers that Lynn put up. His bitch ass needs to be in the bullpen.

Frazod 10-04-2013 11:58 AM

Nice to see Lynderella is already in postseason form. 4321

Marco Polo 10-04-2013 11:59 AM

Everyone, EVERYONE, knew Lynn as game two starter was a bad idea.

I understand the logic from the perspective that you cannot use someone so mentally weak on the road, so I won't crucify him there, but it probably should have been Shelby going here.

Moving forward, they have to trade Lynn for whatever they can get. He doesn't have the fortitude to help a team when it matters the most. Let him eat innings for a team like the Rockies, Mariners, or Padres.

Except Captain Concussed obviously. To me, it should have been:

Waino
Kelly
Miller
Wacha

You could move Kelly to either game 3 or 4 but the key was Lynn not being in the rotation.

Lynn would be the emergency reliever or innings eater in blowouts.

BIG_DADDY 10-04-2013 12:03 PM

My wife is an A's fan so we go to a few games every year. I think it will be either them or the Sox coming out of the American league. National league is a crap shoot. Pirates have no chance in this series. Wish you guys the best. This time of year just isn't the same with my Giants sucking wind.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2013 12:04 PM

Team just looks flat. Bad defense, poor jumps on the ball, Lynn throwing hog shit.

And Cole just annihilated Carpenter.

The Pirates have had a horseshoe up their ass the entire year. I am glad to be playing them over the other options, but they aren't anything close to a walkover.

Seriously, I'd sooner have Westbrook in the rotation than Lynn.

You'd think Matheny would pick up on this shit eventually. Is there something obstructing his view of the pitcher's mound from the dugout? :banghead:

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2013 12:11 PM

No way Craig makes that stab. Great play.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2013 12:12 PM

I'd rather have Loretta Lynn on the mound than Westbrook. Let's not go too far.

I'm wishing Clemente had told Walker's dad to come along.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2013 12:18 PM

WHAT THE ****?? That ball was six ****ing inches low.

Pepe Silvia 10-04-2013 12:23 PM

MOTHER****ER GET HIM OUT OF THERE :cuss:

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2013 12:26 PM

Two straight balls in the middle are flat crushed.

I haven't seen a postseason starter this craven since Garcia against the Brewers in Game 1 of the '11 LCS.

This needs to be Lynn's last appearance in a Cardinal uniform.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2013 12:28 PM

Pitching around Alvarez to bring in Maness for the DP.

Frazod 10-04-2013 12:28 PM

I guess the only thing worse than following this abortion on Gamecast would be watching it live.

Frazod 10-04-2013 12:30 PM

Lynderella's mug just disappeared from the pitcher box. Does that mean he finally got yanked?

You have no idea. Every ball that has been hit is belt high right in the middle. This isn't the usual Pirate offense built around lucky bloop hits and seeing eye grounders; Lynn is serving the ball up on a tee and they are raking.

Man Ass is in for the DP.

Frazod 10-04-2013 12:32 PM

Is Maness in the game now? Gamecast pitcher box is still blank.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2013 12:33 PM

Welp, there's your seeing eye grounder. Maness did his job and induced weak contact, Pirates just got lucky and Descalso's horrible range really ****ed them.

And he serves up another DP ball only for Carpenter to **** the exchange. Ugly ass game.

Frazod 10-04-2013 12:33 PM

And I see nothing's improved.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2013 12:35 PM

Where the **** was that pitch? Jesus Christ, Wally Bell is just god awful.

Pepe Silvia 10-04-2013 12:35 PM

Not even a game.

Do we have Frank Drebin behind the plate today?

No shit, I'm waiting for him to bring out the vacuum and the dust buster.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2013 12:39 PM

If you're going to lose a playoff game, this is the way to do it. Have your starter shit his pants, your offense completely disappear, the defense play ineptly, and the umpire wave the Jolly Roger in between every inning.

Pepe Silvia 10-04-2013 12:39 PM

Yadi

Frazod 10-04-2013 12:39 PM

Gamecast has ball 1 right in the middle of the strike zone. :D

Frazod 10-04-2013 12:40 PM

WOOHOO

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2013 12:40 PM

Nice poke, Yadi. Now take some good ABs.

Frazod 10-04-2013 12:41 PM

Oh, and my annual obligatory **** YOU to MLB for putting these games on during a work day. ****ing one who sucks the peniss. 4321

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2013 12:53 PM

Axford is making Lynn look like Kershaw in this appearance.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2013 01:03 PM

They have hit some balls really hard today to get almost nothing out of it.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2013 01:09 PM

Damn. That was a really good pitch.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2013 01:11 PM

Some really good ABs this inning. Be nice to get some tallies out of it.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2013 01:13 PM

****. Ran up three straight 3+ ball counts and got nothing out of it.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2013 01:17 PM

****ing Freese...Wow.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2013 01:24 PM

Another Freese blunder and another umpiring screw job. Wow, this crew is truly something else. Complete ****ing hog shit.

Frazod 10-04-2013 01:38 PM

Time for some more 2 out magic.

Frazod 10-04-2013 01:39 PM

Or ground out to the pitcher like a bitch. 4321

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2013 01:41 PM

Bringing in Miller with a five run deficit? ****, could Matheny be a dumber mother****er?

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2013 01:43 PM

I'm headed to the driving range.

I was the only one that posted it was a bad idea. There were several posts about his numbers being better than Miller. Not that it was some great insight. Like you said, everyone could see this coming.

Everyone knows that Lynn would piss down his leg as soon as he faces any adversity. Jay misplays a fly ball and Molina flubs one and he is jelly. We see it time and time again. Are the coaches not paying attention?

Why pitch Lynn after the 3 runs score?

Frazod 10-04-2013 05:29 PM

I hope Hamas didn't kill anybody at the driving range. LMAO

Yeah, I called myself a **** under my breath a few times. However, unlike the professional athlete Lance Lynn, after making a few errors I was able to correct my approach and leave my pants without shit streaks.

Yeah that is very irritating but it seems worse this year. Just realized that games 4 and 5 are also starting at 4:00 central. That makes no night games at all during the first round.

Miles 10-05-2013 01:52 AM

Checked news this morning and wondered WTF on Shelby getting moved to the pen.

Lynn has a nice home split with a 2.82 ERA and other good indicators so if you are going to start him might make sense to do it now. Kelly does have an oddly nice road split. I then check Shelby's home split thinking maybe it would at least suggest some reason but no he is lights out at home over an entire ****ing season.

I would have rather seen Miller take the start at home. Lynn is used to the pen. However you do need more than 3 hits to win. Who knows that if it were a close game that Cole might have faltered being matched zero for zero.

This game is more than simple stats. Everyone thats ever watched the Cardinals play knows Lynn could piss down his leg if things don't go his way. Okay, so you ignore that and pitch him based on his stats over the last 4 games. I could see that decision based on pure stats.

But, after he gets 3 runs on him, has pissed down his leg and has to bat the next inning........to leave him in, during the playoffs. That was managerial malpractice.

I think this was a case of Matheny not wanting to hand the ball to a rookie despite the fact that it was rookies that put this club in the playoffs. I can't explain Lynn getting the start any other way except perhaps as a hunch.

BigRedChief 10-05-2013 07:16 PM

I knew Jay was sub par CF but didn't know it was this bad...........

Bernie Miklasz ‏@miklasz 1h
Games like this remind me that Jon Jay was a minus 10 in defensive runs saved, ranked 32nd among CFs, that via @billjamesonline

I like this pitching lineup tomorrow

Kelly 1-5
Kelly or Maness/Stafford/Choate match ups 6th
Martinez 7th
Siegriest 8th
Rosenthal 9th

This looks to be a game decided by who can score 2 runs

I guess because of the 2011 WS I always thought he was a good fielder. If Tavares hadn't gotten hurt this year I think that management would have had to strongly think about moving the rookie up, especially when Jay was not hitting. He's up for arbitration next year and earned a bit more than $500k this year. You would have to think the Cardinals will look into letting him go after this season.

Not a chance they let him walk. Taveras can't play CF, and who knows if he's healthy next year. Who would you have start over Jay... Shane Robinson? And even if they do pick up a CF in free agency, you could do a lot worse than Jay as a 4th OF.

I've read many reports that the Cardinals think he can play CF. That the job is his in spring training to lose.

The odds that he becomes the worst CF in MLB are long. We already have that.
I would think he has to be better than Jay.

Frazod 10-06-2013 02:42 PM

Frank Drebin behind the plate in Pittsburgh today.

Mi_chief_fan 10-06-2013 03:14 PM

I try to keep things in perspective and not offer up knee jerk reactions, but after winning 97 games, if that play by Kozma gets them eliminated, Matheny should be let go. And that dumbass better not be on the roster next year.
