Advanced metrics have actually tended to favor him, somewhat, compared to his numbers in-actuality. Between his awesome 2014 (3.20 ERA) and negatively-regarded 2015 season (4.08 ERA), his FIP was almost exactly the same between both of those seasons (2014: 3.60, 2015: 3.57).
In fact, many numbers indicate that Yordano actually did better in 2015 than 2014. His K/9 went up +0.78/9 innings, his BB/9 decreased 0.19/9 innings, he had a marginally-higher fWAR in 2015 than 2014, his BABIP increased a touch too. Obviously his numbers this year are shit and the metrics support that with his lack of strikeouts, and all of those walks that he was surrendering throughout most of the first half of the season.
He looks to have somewhat stabilized that particular issue at this point in time at least.
Basically, I still have faith that, at his core, Yordano will one day grow into a guy that can find a happy medium between a somewhat-lucky 2014 and a somewhat-inflated 2015. He has a lot of bullshit as an external force on his data (like being a complete bitch in so many ways), but I have faith that it will all stabilize eventually.
