The Kansas City Chiefs began their three-day mandatory-mini-camp today and according to Josh Kilngler, linebacker Brandon Siler has finally returned to action.
Siler was picked up in free agency last offseason after finishing his stint with the San Diego Chargers. Once projected to be a high draft pick, Siler fell to the 7th round before finally being selected in the draft. During his time in San Diego he gained some starting experience and showed a particular aptitude around the goal line and on special teams.
Most Chiefs fans thought Siler could push or overtake Jovan Belcher for the starting position opposite Derrick Johnson. Unfortunately, Siler tore his Achilles early last preseason and was put on the shelf for a year.
Today, however, Siler returned and participated in some of the team’s drills. He was the first of KC’s rehab group (Charles, Moeaki, Berry) to escape the rehab zone and get in on the action.
It has been a long road back for Siler but now that he is on the field he should be good to go once training camp starts. The question is, will he be ab;e to beat out Jovan Belcher?
