Don't like the fit he is throwing but yes please.

ModSocks 05-13-2014 01:47 PM

So.....he has no real qualms other than tired of being on a losing team?

So.....he's giving up on his team?

Hrmmm.....interdasting. I never thought he was that kinda guy.

In58men 05-13-2014 01:47 PM

He's good for 2 solid years IMO. I would take a flyer on him, draft a WR next year and let him groom under Bowe and Johnson.

silver5liter 05-13-2014 01:47 PM

yes, give our first next year and something else.

**** that.

He's getting old (33 before the season starts), has a huge contract and is dinged up every season.

WhawhaWhat 05-13-2014 01:55 PM

I'd offer a 4th and would accept a trade for a 3rd. He's got a hefty contract.

Larry Fitzgerald has been on some shit teams with even shittier QBs and that dude's never complained a day in his life.

Andre Johnson has been nothing but class (except when he dicked that little douche Finnegan) his entire career so I don't agree that he's a quitter, but this is definitely uncharacteristic for him.

Dude wants to win.

Hoover 05-13-2014 02:04 PM

I'd take him, but only after he was cut. No way you can deal with that contract.

TEX 05-13-2014 02:04 PM

This deal with Andre has been brewing for the better part of a year now. Before last season, his agent informed the Texans that he wanted an extension so he could, "Retire a Texan." The Texans refused because they have JJ Watt, and other deals to do after this season and they had questions with Schaub and others last season in that they didn't know how it would all play out, not to mention AJ's age. A.J feels like he's been loyal to the team, when he didn't have to be, and could have played elsewhere for more $$$, but he didn't, Dude just wants a ring now that he's nearing the end of his career. My bet is he goes elsewhere, he ends up with Kubes in Baltimore - Dude (when healthy) is still a top 5 WR and if KC can get him somehow they should do it, - Just my opinion. Deal is though, his contract is a problem and he's starting to get those nagging injuries that seem to signal the decline of aging players.

That's bullshit. A player's goal is to win. If you're constantly losing, there's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to go to a team that wins.

When players / people feel "slighted", they do weird things. In his eyes, the Texans have disrespected him.

But really, I thought the Texans did some nice things in the draft, why should he be so mad, his defense is about to be a pass rushing nightmare and they also got a QB with some solid bona fides.

Trade every pick that is in the same round as a compensation pick in 2015.

ModSocks 05-13-2014 02:21 PM

He's going to be 33 Before the season starts.

33.

When's the last time he played a full season?

Add in the size of his contract....

Does it REALLY make sense?

Anything more than a 3rd-4th (and that's pushing it) is overpaying.

If he is cut or traded the Texans eat the signing and roster bonuses as well as any and all other bonuses.
He is due 10.5 this year and 11 next year in base salary.

What are you thinking?

CaliforniaChief 05-13-2014 02:34 PM

In 2011 he only started 7 games due to injury. Other than that year, here is his production:

2013: 109 catches, 1,407 yards, 5 TD's.
2012: 112 catches, 1,598 yards, 4 TD's.
2010: 86 catches, 1,216 yards, 8 TD's.

Even in his 2011 injury year, he only played in 7 games and still managed 33 catches/492 yards, which is under 200 yards less than Dwayne Bowe had ALL SEASON last year.

Oh yeah, and that's with Matt Schaub as his QB.

OldSchool 05-13-2014 02:35 PM

"Whatever talent is left" was still good enough for 1400 yards last year.

I know the kind of player he is because I've seen nearly every game he's played. Dude is a top 5 WR when healthy and he's slipped a bit ONLY because of nagging injuries.

ThaVirus 05-13-2014 02:42 PM

Yeah, I just checked and the dude is a yardage BEAST. Only averages 14 games a season but still goes for 1,150 per. That's an insane average over an 11 year career.

He has yet to crack 10 TDs in a single season though. I wonder how a guy can be so productive as far as catches and yards go but lag so significantly in TDs.. Strange.
