is the rumor true Amnorix?
the Colts are saying Vinateri is theirs

Damn. I liked that guy.
|
I thought there was a bidding war between the Pat's and Packers.
|
I know how much the Pats & Colts fans hate each other. Amnorix must be fumming if it's true
|
What happened to Vanderjagoff?
|
Michael Holley is reporting it. That's a huge, huge thing for the Colts.
|
If they'd had him last year they'd probably be SB champs since we know the Seahawks would have been double ****ed by the refs if they played the Colts instead.

well this will fuel the fire between the teams BBs
Brady still has 3 rings to Precious's 0 |
The most accurate field goal kicker in NFL history is about to be replaced by one of the most clutch placement specialists in the game.
Adam Vinatieri Kicker New England Patriots Profile 2005 SEASON STATISTICS FG Att PAT Att Pts Long 20 25 40 41 100 49 ESPN.com has learned that unrestricted free agent Adam Vinatieri, who provided the winning field goals in two of the New England Patriots' three Super Bowl victories, has reached a contract agreement in principle with the Indianapolis Colts. There remains some work to be done on the contract, but the deal could be completed by Tuesday night. Contract details were not immediately available. Vinatieri would replace longtime Colts kicker Mike Vanderjagt, the most accurate field goal kicker in NFL annals, who is also an unrestricted free agent. And the move for Vinatieri is fraught with irony, given the rivalry between the Patriots and the Colts. A 10-year veteran, Vinatieri, 33, has converted 263 of 321 field goal attempts and 367 of 374 extra point tries in 160 games. He recently visited with Green Bay officials but left without a contract. Vinatieri ranks at No. 7 on ESPN.com's Top 50 unrestricted free agents list. Len Pasquarelli is a senior NFL writer for ESPN.com. To check out Len's chat archive, click here Insider. |
Ah just lovely. Apparently a late entry by the Colts. Just today I was reading how it was between the Packers and Patriots, as nobody else seemed to be interested.
First, let me say that I appreciate all that AV did for us. He was/is a GREAT kicker. 6th all time in accuracy is hella impressive playing in New England (as compared to Vanderjerk playing in a Dome being #1 which impresses me less). His kick against the Raiders is one for all time. But, all that said, he IS "just a kicker". Most people couldn't even name the kickers for most Super Bowl winners. They can be important, but usually they're pretty fungible. The Patriots have a system, and we as fans have lived (well) by it, and hopefully we won't die by it. The system is that we don't overpay for ANYBODY, and that try very hard to have an entire team that consists of good, solid, "middle class" players surrounding a very small number of superstars. Here's hoping the Patriots don't live to regret this however, which I acknowledge certainly is possible. No matter how you spin it, however, it's been a sad month for Patriots fans. 2/4ths of the group that had been to all 4 SBs in the Kraft era (Troy Brown, Bruschi, McGinest and AV) are gone now) and Brown might sign with the Jets or retire. :( |
Amnorix... don't forget about the coaches that have been lost... and Givens. Maybe they will sign the canadian kicker formerly from Indy.

But turnover is a fact of life in the NFL, and I won't argue with not overpaying Givens (his offer of $24M over 5 years topped the Pats and Texans offers by six million bucks!). It was #1 money for someone who would've been a #2 for us. His first year money is more than the Pats paid for their ENTIRE WR corp last year!! Vanderjerk is unlikely. First, he's a whiny pu**y, which doesn't make him much of a BB guy. Second, he has trouble with kickoffs, and BB would NEVER waste a roster spot to have two kickers. Third, he's UNclutch, which isn't good. I'd imagine we'll end up signing Edinger. |
Lordy. Patriots BBs are all up in arms over this Vinatieri thing. Kick AV in the nuts. Hang Belichick.
:shake: Unbelievable. You'd think it was Tom Brady we lost... |
