I will start the 2013 thread when the MLS Cup is done but there is already some off season type movement around the league by the team.

http://www.sportingkc.com/news/2012/...s-four-players
Sporting Kansas City announced Monday that the club has waived Julio Cesar, Cyprian Hedrick, Neven Markovic and Konrad Warzycha.

Cesar, 34, appeared in 58 MLS matches (including playoffs) in two seasons with Sporting Kansas City. The Brazilian holding midfielder contributed three goals and three assists in MLS competition, and also started two games in the 2012 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup including the championship match.

Hedrick, selected in the second round of the 2012 MLS SuperDraft out of Coastal Carolina University, made appearances in three MLS Reserve League matches. The 23-year-old rookie defender suffered a fractured fibula in his left leg in May.

Markovic, 25, made two regular season appearances and saw action in three Reserve League matches after signing with the club in July. The Serbian defender also appeared in the club’s international friendlies against Montpellier Herault SC and Stoke City FC. His release from the roster will make available an additional international slot.

Warzycha, selected in the third round of the 2011 MLS SuperDraft out of Ohio State University, made his MLS debut in a 2-0 victory over Toronto FC on June 16 for his only League appearance. After missing his rookie season due to knee surgery, the 23-year-old midfielder appeared in every Reserve League match for the club this season. He also appeared in two games during the 2012 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and started both international friendlies.
My own two cents. I am pretty surprised by 2 of these...

Markovic was looking *really* good in the time he played here. He seemed a shoe in as a role player at LB or a few other positions with MLS+CCL+USOC schedule congestion next year. That is an interesting cut.

Hedrick was a guy who I really liked a lot personally. He had a story I was rooting for. I thought he would be around to grow and fight for a depth spot next year.

Cesar is the biggest cut. He was just making too much money. 1/10th of our salary cap. Great player in our system but he is getting older and we save a lot of money without him. Uri Rossel has come on and looks to be the real deal to step up in our defensive midfield. I think they would love to have Cesar if at a different price.

Warzycha harder worker and good guy. Has dealt with being changed around on the field and learning a new position. Will find a nice spot for himself in the NASL.

Also huge news league wide. David Beckham's game with the LA Galaxy in the MLS Cup will be his last with the club.

H is moving on...the rumor is he will joing theA-League in Australia who are looking to boost its profile. Probably good timing. The Beckham experiment has been ever changing but nothing but a success.

So does that mean Lampard lands down under or maybe in KC since Becks is out of the equation.

Why the A-league? At this point, is it really anything other than "I think it would be fun to live in Melbourne/Sydney"?

I could maybe understand if AUZ had won the World Cup rights... Be an ambassador and help build the profile, and all that. But now?

Demonpenz 11-20-2012 06:00 PM

Oh Besler you.....you got what I need. You Anchor our defense. You Anchor our defense.

It is a league a bit on the up and up that is throwing the kitchen sink at him to come. Not unlike the MLS years back.

From a radio interview this morning Besler apparently has some interest from Europe...not a surprise but he should be back next year.

Bet Becks winds up at PSG or in China...
