DEs dropping into coverage.
What's the use of this?
Exactly how much could it confuse the QB? By giving him extra time to throw as a LB gets engulfed by the opposing team's OT? I don't like Jared Allen, Tamba Hali, or Jimmie Wilkerson dropping back for coverage. They're too slow to cover anyone, and they're not bringing anything to the table that our linebackers aren't already. |
Its not really to confuse, its to have the part of the zone covered. More or less for a quick slant.

You must have missed the Steelers game last night.

I would rather give the qb less time to throw?

Jason Taylor seems to pull it off well, but he's a freak

The only time I saw it work was in a red zone situation when we played Buffalo a few years back. Could have been the 13-3 season. Simms drops back and grabs the INT off Bledsoe. Other than that, I've never seen it work (for the Chiefs anyway). |
Zone blitz. Every team does it.

With those throws, there is no QB pressure because the ball comes out too fast. |
