Besides Darnell Dockett...
who's turning out to be a helluva player...what other college player did we try out (and who also wanted badly to play for the Chiefs)...then have Carl suprisingly just pass over on draft day? :banghead:
|
Didn't we look at Troy Polamalu when he came out?
|
Too many to mention.....but i wonder what would have happened if we would have kept Gannon and Joe Horn togther??

If we did...then I think I'm gonna :Lin: |
Carl passed over everyone and decided to himself that he just didnt give a shit about the draft and drafted 6th or 7th round talent in the 2nd round in Junior Siavii.
I remember when we did that. I screamed and yelled at my TV because I had never heard of the ****ing guy. Then I looked up on some mock drafts and they had him going in the 6th or 7th round. 5th round would be pushing it. |
Picking Ryans Sims in 2002 over any of these guys:
Dwight Freeeny Albert Haynsworth Javon Walker Ed Reed Lito Sheppard has to rank as one of our bigger ****ups. |
John Henderson and Igor Olshansky were real possibilities that we could have drafted. Take a moment and think about that.

The one player who got a raw deal, but was amped to have a big season before his injury was Slyvestor Morris

I can't believe you guys are pissed that we got LJ instead of Polamalu.

I agree but hind sight is easy in the NFL. IMO.

That was a great run by Dockett on that interception return Monday night. It was too bad that his knee touched the ground; you don't often see a defensive lineman pop up from landing on a defender, keep running, and then do a 360 spin to avoid another tackler before scoring.

sometimes a good point, but in this case like deberg said: "Picking Ryans Sims in 2002 over any of these guys: Dwight Freeeny Albert Haynsworth Javon Walker Ed Reed Lito Sheppard has to rank as one of our bigger ****ups." That was fuggin obvious AT the time. |

Taking Sims over Henderson pisses me off the most. Both in hindsight and at the time. I don't really care about Polamalu, he would probably suck if the Chiefs drafted him.
|
I don't know. There would have been people ticked off if we had taken Henderson. Sims was widely considered to be the best DT prospect in the draft. As for the other defensive whiffs in the last five years or so, I blame Vermeil more than Carl. I'm sure some how Vermeil saw Siavii as a project he could mold into a star.

Rookie 5th rounder Mark Anderson who is tearing it up for the Bears right now got a lot of attention from the Chiefs at the Senior Bowl.
Mark Anderson or Marcus Maxey? Hmmmm.... |

I'll be honest, when I heard the Chiefs were looking at him, I thought he was a little undersized. And maybe his production is a byproduct of the guys he lines up next to. But the thread subject is guys we were interested in but passed on... Anderson fits the criteria. As for having too many DEs, ask any Giants fan if they are sorry they took Kiwanuka when they already have Strahan and Umenyiora. |

I'm not arguing what should have happened, only that in this case (and more importantly many others), we haven't had the ability to identify bigtime players on defense. |
They had also just given Woods and Wesley extentions......if we had drafted Polamalu he would have sit on the bench for 3 years because of Vermiels allegiance to his veterans.

i know Eddie freeman and Darnell Dockett is no Eddie freeman. :$2500:
