The first 3 minutes of Ep 1 is fantastic.


Is this going to be a full-blown TV series, or just this webisode stuff?

Right now it is not slated to be a regular series, but if it is well received and blu-ray/DVD sales are strong, it would not surprise me if that changes.

It is great so far. Best thing that Syfi has done since Battlestar Galactica went off the air.

Ironically, I haven't watched anything on Syfi since Battlestar Galactica went off the air.

I guess this means I've missed out on Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus IV, V and VI. Darn.

They've actually had a couple of good shows in Alphas and Warehouse 13 (and Eureka) but nothing that's balls-to-the-wall outerspace shoot-em-up stuff. There really isn't anything like that on on any network, unfortunately. The world's all fantasy and urban fantasy right now, no far future science fiction.

Damn, that was great. I've been itching for some good new sci-fi.

I've looked for info on Ron Moore from time to time in some hope he'd bring the show back somehow (I watched two episodes of Caprica and just could not get into it). I'm not positive he's attached to this in some way, but either way, here's hoping this re-ignites the fans' want to see more BSG universe.

I pre-ordered the blu-ray/dvd combo, it will be released Feb. 19th.

As right now there is no plans to make a series or online series.

The two-hour movie was last night. Not too bad. Bill Adama is fresh out of flight school, and his first assignment is to the Galactica, and they human race is 10 years into the first Cylon War.

They are showing in a whopping 2 times, and I didn't even know it was going to be on.

What a horribly run network. You've got ONE gold standard franchise that brings in viewers to your crappy channel, so shit all over it. :shake:

They must not want to actually produce a new series based on it for fear of the cost or something. That is the only reason I can think of that they didn't advertise the shit out of this.

This was a lot of fun. I'd totally watch a new series based on these characters. I really loved it. Some of the CGI was remarkably bad. But I liked the story.

It's the best thing Sy Fy potentially has going for it, but for some reason they just don't want to admit/commit to it. Their loss.

So weird. I know a lot of people were turned off by the finale of the other series. But it did well, didn't it? Seems like a marketable franchise.

Hell, Time Magazine listed BSG as one of the best 100 shows of all time. The finale definitely felt rushed, like they were trying to tie it all up under some imposed deadline, but even with that it's one of the most enjoyable shows I've watched in some time.

It's funny how a network that goes by SyFy refuses to promote a show that not only embodies the best of what science fiction storytelling can bring, but a show that is nearly universally loved by fans and critics alike. If HBO/Showtime/Cinemax would get the rights to the series, I would be willing to bet that it woud be a ratings bonanza for them.

I watch a couple of current SyFy series (Continuum and Being Human) and they are constantly advertising their new show coming in April (Defiance) but I didn't see a single ad for this new BSG. It was like they were intentionally trying to have bad ratings.

BSG on HBO would break my skull in half.

Universal is preparing to start work on a Battlestar Galactica movie. Variety says the studio is planning to completely reimagine the sci-fi story — in which space-bound humans fend off the attacks of nefarious cybernetic Cylons as they try to find a new home — just five years after the four-season Syfy TV show drew to a close. The planned film would mark the second time Battlestar Galactica has been rebooted after the original show aired in 1978.

Jack Paglen, the writer of the upcoming Transcendence, has agreed to pen the reboot's screenplay. Paglen is a hot property for studios wanting to create sci-fi at the moment: he's also slated to write Ridley Scott's Prometheus sequel. Glen Larson, who worked on the 1970s TV series, will produce the film, but there's no confirmation yet on who'll take on the role of director. Bryan Singer was originally attached to a Battlestar Galactica movie project in 2011, but the production was put on hold in 2013 after the director committed to working on new X-Men movies. Having agreed to direct 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse, Singer is unlikely to have time to work on developing a new Battlestar.

They'll probably just make a new movie and put it on SyFy. It will be decent, but nothing like it could have been.

The SyFy show was just about as good as it can get for the BSG universe. This movie better be mind blowingly good, or it will get smashed by critics and fans alike. I'm sure it will make money one way or the other, but still.

I just don't see how you can properly do a BG story in a movie unless they are planning several.

Agree. And while I'm usually not against re-imaginings of classic movies/series, it seems too early for this given the near-perfection of the latest series. I don't know how they can succeed really.
