Late night bullshit: pick your favorite "pro" set.

Sorter started a pretty cool thread a day or two ago about the different offensive tendencies of Andy Reid.

And, well, since it is late night, and it is time for bullshit, and bullshit is what I do, I'm going to spend a couple nights from time to time putting together hypothetical arrangements based on the different personnel sets described in that thread.

First up: the "pro" set. 2WR, 1TE, 2RB.

Here are three sets. Pick your favorite, or create your own. Or do both.

Love the speed package here in the backfield. Bowe and Baldwin create some size out wide, with Fasano up against Albert in case some stretch blocking is necessary.

One of the WRs in this set is a slot receiver. The TE is split out wide. Sherman is set up in a power I with Davis. But Sherman could easily just run a hot route and Davis can wheel out.

The RB in this set is in a slot, with Fasano and Avery in a jumbled package designed to create mismatches. At the same time, Knile Davis is right next to Alex where he can either wheel out or take a hand off.

Poll forthcoming.

Single back set with Charles in the backfield, Bowe and Avery split wide, Fasano in tight and Kelce in the slot.

As for your selections, I think I like the third choice.

For me, It's gotta be the set with Charles in the backfield. Maybe replace Baldwin with Avery or put him int he slot too, I love his speed.

A combination of 1 and 3.

That's not a pro set in Reid's offense.

Pro set: 2RB, 1TE, 2WR.

Your formation is an Ace set.

With Bowe as the X, Avery as your Z, Kelce as your F and any combination of Fasano/DMC/Wylie/Moeaki/Gray/Davis/Baldwin as your Y.

Yeah, I threw out "11" personnel set, but with our guys I think it's going to be our best, as it stands right now.

Not to take away from the Pro Set possiblities, of course.

How in the blue **** did you know Casino Royale was on my TV right now? Goddamned creeper.

Direckshun 05-19-2013 11:20 PM

I'm actually watching Skyfall on DVD right now, just knew Casino Royale was on.

Both are great -- but you gotta give the edge to Javier Bardem's Skyfall.

This is my favorite pro set.

#3 appears to be the most effective formation to me. Ideally, Charles is in motion before the snap, adjusting to the coverage as either in or out of the backfield.

Scenarios in which a negative play results in formation #3 don't seem very likely provided everybody does what they're supposed to with no idiotic goof ups. Defenses who faced that would have to go conservative to keep all the action in front of them, and even then they're keeping guys like Jamaal Charles with the ball in his hands in front of them.
