Mother****erJones 04-04-2013 04:46 AM

Good luck today, hopefully Gavin can control his 12-6 curve

Demonpenz 04-04-2013 06:37 AM

I am watching Santana's strikeouts yesterday for the Royals. I love Salvy where he puts the target. Makes his glove look real small and low to make a pitcher focus in on getting the ball down. Then he has soft hands to react to the pitch #Royals

Pablo 04-04-2013 06:55 AM

Ugh. Please don't suck today Royals.

Mother****erJones 04-04-2013 07:40 AM

Hope the starter of the Royals beams Beckham. He cant hit for the life of him

I'm guessing we give up 5 HR's today and make it a nice smooth 10 dingers in the 3 game series for the Sux.

2 games in and I'm already jaded as ****.

mr. tegu 04-04-2013 08:58 AM

I am still expecting the offense to come around in better hitting conditions. But they better win this game.

Mother****erJones 04-04-2013 08:59 AM

It's 2 games in cold Chicago weather. I wouldn't freak out just yet

BlackHelicopters 04-04-2013 09:08 AM

if the trend holds we score 4 runs today. however Chi would score 25. Oh, well.

gblowfish 04-04-2013 09:18 AM

They'll win today, then get swept in Philly.

Strongside 04-04-2013 09:23 AM

Almost 60 degrees in Chicago today. I say our bats finally wake up.

Deberg_1990 04-04-2013 09:27 AM

Hmmm......it worked yesterday, so let me try this again

Chisox 4 Royals 5

Demonpenz 04-04-2013 09:30 AM

We will win today, but I won't feel good about it.

Mother****erJones 04-04-2013 09:49 AM

I like Gavin he's just too damn inconsistent though. Royals 6 White Sox 3

RockChalk 04-04-2013 09:59 AM

I still maintain we haven't actually manufactured a run yet. Chi giftwrapped the 2 runs yesterday and tried their best to give us more.

I'm not down on them, but that whole 1st and 3rd, nobody out, and we don't even sniff a run just looks like more of the same old shit to me

ChiTown 04-04-2013 10:06 AM

Yep. I don't want to hear about cold weather. It was cold when Chicago knocked 5 HR's in 2 days as well. Hit the ****ing ball already, and make it timely.

RedDread 04-04-2013 10:09 AM

This team has a tendency to be really streaky. It will be no different this year. There will be times when they rattle off 6-8 wins in a row and then dump for a whole week.

****ing zero effort.

I don't think it's a question about effort. It's more just playing with some level of intelligence.

In that situation, after Hosmer and Cain got on base...

Frenchy swings out of his shoes at 3 straight pitches. Nothing else is expected out of him

Tejada pinch hits and draws a walk, which no doubt made just about everyone faint. Poor Ned probably was pissed about this since nobody in the organization seems to value getting on base

Gordon flies out going opposite field...worst case scenario, a hitter as good as him need to at least pull a ground ball and get the run home from 3rd

Escobar strikes out

A decent team gets that runner home 7 times out of 10. A good team gets that runner home 9 times out of 10 and likely scores more than 1

Keitzman said yesterday he saw a stat from last year where we were one of the hardest teams to sweep in the league, that only having happened four times (hard to believe, actually).

So we have that going for us.

The dream I had after opening day was we'd be 1-5 for KC's opening day. LOL.

Glad we traded Wil Myers already!

alnorth 04-04-2013 10:39 AM

Dyson is in for Cain today, batting 8th. The rest of the lineup is basically the same with some moving up.

Gordon 7
Escobar 6
Butler DH
Moustakas 5
Perez 2
Hosmer 3
Francoeur 9
Dyson 8
Getz 4

I think Chicago is using the same lineup they've been using, but its hard to tell because the stupid gif their twitter account posted to show the lineup is annoying.

PunkinDrublic 04-04-2013 10:40 AM

They are just pressing too much at the plate. If they would settle down and work the count the hits will come. With Frenchy that's impossible because he's one of the dumbest hitters I've ever seen.

Any thoughts as to why they'd take Cain out of the lineup today?

alnorth 04-04-2013 10:44 AM

There's nothing wrong with Cain, apparently Ned says he wanted to give Cain a day off each week to "keep his legs fresh". If he holds to that all season, he'll play the field in about as many games as a catcher.

Dyson hits Right handers fairly well, but I'd much rather move Cain to right and bench Frenchy.

gblowfish 04-04-2013 10:48 AM

Ned is saving Cain so he can bash into a fence in Philadelphia and put himself on the DL until the All Star Break.

teedubya 04-04-2013 10:49 AM

How do the White Sox get lucky... and get to bash in our faces to start the season?

mr. tegu 04-04-2013 10:49 AM

So I got the MLB at bat app and I can't watch the games on my mobile devices because of blackout restrictions. I had no idea. Luckily I only paid for one month though. It is still worth it for now because I can watch the games on the internet while at work since they are all day games.

Three days in, and Yost is already ****ing with the players and the lineup.

The Royals have struck out 18 times in two games.
That's six full innings of nothing but strikeouts. Or, you can say they strike out every third at bat.

Team batting average is .182. Only Houston and Toronto are worse in the American League.

yep I looked it up, you are right. Since the Royals are at +104 today, then if they won 5-3, his $40 bet would pay out about $41.60

The long-term odds don't get worse. If 10,000 people placed 2 single bets a day for a year and 10,000 people placed 1 2-way parlay a day for a year, they should both come out the same.

The only difference is in exchange for accepting a loss 3 days out of 4 instead of every other day, you might feel happier on the day you won.

There's nothing else to talk about but the lineup.

So..... Your parlay is more interesting and relevant.

Hey, don't underestimate our ability to strike out!!!

alnorth 04-04-2013 11:59 AM

random math lesson: how to calculate the payoff from a parlay.

First, convert every bet into a factor. If its +, then divide by 100 and add 1. If its -, divide 100 by that and add 1.

(e.g. +105 -> (105/100) + 1 = 2.05, -110 -> (100/110) + 1 = 1.909)

Then multiply your bet by each factor, and subtract your bet.

x=bet; A, B, C = factors in a 3-way parlay; y = what you win.

(x*A*B*C) - x = y

Chiefspants 04-04-2013 12:01 PM

In Vegas a couple of weeks ago I witnessed a guy hit 4 Aces on a $25 video poker max bet and win $4000 so he goes to the sportsbook and places a $1000 3 teamer on the NCAA tourney and I ask him why a parlay. He says because if I hit it'll pay around $7000 to which I say that took some guts I would've went on a straight up if I was betting a grand.

Needless to say next morning I see same guy and ask how's that parlay work out to which he says it didn't but oh well I had a grand to spare. :spock:

Ned Yost needs to be fired, he is too incompetent to handle any hint of stress. An idea supported by his chaotic line-up shufflings and bullpen management during last years' 12 game losing streak and the two monumental late season collapses he oversaw with the Brewers.
