Assumptions:

1. Chiefs finish 10-6, get a wild card slot, and visit the New England Patriots, where they lose.

2. The Chiefs have the 21st overall pick, and the 49ers have our 2nd rounder. We have the Cowboys' 7th rounder, however.

3. The Chiefs resign OT Branden Albert to a 5-year contract worth $55m. DE Tyson Jackson is resigned to a 3-year, $13m contract. S Kendrick Lewis is resigned to 2-year, $4m contract.

4. The Chiefs resign LS Thomas Gafford, ILB Akeem Jordan, OG Geoff Schwartz, NT Anthony Toribio, OLB Frank Zombo, S Husain Abdullah.

5. The Chiefs let walk: WR Dexter McCluster, OG Jon Asamoah, TE Sean McGrath

6. The Chiefs cut: QB Chase Daniel, CB Dunta Robinson

On we go.

1. QB Brett Hundley, UCLA

Young, athletic QB with experience in a pro-style system. With no Chase Daniel sucking up training camp reps, we can have Bray and Hundley go mano y mano in training camp for the #2 spot behind Alex Smith.

3. WR Jordan Matthews, Vanderbilt

Matthews is a receiver who doesn't burn you with his deep speed, instead he's a very quick, intermediate receiver with great hands and a solid route runner to boot. He's a big YAC guy. In other words, perfect for Andy Reid.

4. CB Kyle Fuller, Virginia Tech

Fuller drops a bit here, but he'd be a phenomenal midround talent to back up Flowers and Smith. More in the vein of Smith than he is Flowers, he is a very skilled corner who has had a handful of games that flashed such great coverage ability, we're flirting with the next Asante Samuel here with good coaching.

5. RB Damian Williams, Oklahoma

A solid, but unspectacular runner for the Sooner offense, Williams is a pro-ready runner with a surprisingly mature ability to set up the block.

6. OL Tyler Moore, Florida

A big, physical right tackle who could (and should) move inside to guard, this is a great get in the later rounds if bigger is truly better in the Andy Reid scheme.

7. TE Kaneakua Friel, BYU

Going with Andy Reid's history of liking WAC players here, but Friel is mostly an unspectacular receiver but solid blocker. Reid's offense can make even mediocre tight ends look passable as receivers, just so long as they can block well (see: Sean McGrath).

7. CB Ciante Evans, Nebraska

I've watched some Cornhuskers this season, and Evans looks like he has the ability to shut down all but the most talented receivers. The problem is, those talented receivers have really beaten Evans to a pulp. With a good showing in size/speed in the Combine, teams could find a lot to salvage in Evans' skillset.

but i don't really know much about those guys so can't comment

not to hijack, but is anyone a minor bit concerned about Dorsey's drafting? so far it looks like a pile of crap, and yes i know things will change...but still, i have some slight nervousness lingering around my draft thoughts...

We obviously need more than three games.

Fisher -- has struggled mightily
Kelce -- health issues, but looked really good in training camp
Davis -- has looked pretty good in spot work
Nico -- health issues
Commings -- health issues
Kush -- looked pretty good in preseason
Braden Wilson -- cut lmao
Catapano -- looked brilliant against the Jags, but is stuck behind Bailey on the depth chart.

Health issues have plagued 3 out of the eight players, and we cut another guy.

One (Catapano) has looked extremely good already, Fisher will probably get there by the end of the season (I'm a believer in the kid, though), and Davis has looked meh-to-good in spot work. Kush is a depth guy, and will be so for at least a couple years.

i forget about catapano, that certainly has some promise for a 7th rounder...

say the Chiefs weren't drafting a QB first (shocker!), what WR would you take in round 1?

Well you've got several receivers I've got a first round grade on, and one that I believe has a chance to rocket up this year.

Marquise Lee (USC) and Sammy Watkins (Clemson) are the same player, basically. They both are very dynamic in the open field, they can run routes pretty well, and they both have extremely good speed. I suspect Watkins has a little more explosion and has put in a lot of time in the middle of the field, but Lee has outstanding, glue-like hands and is more of a pure outside talent. The Chiefs never seem to have outside talent aside from Bowe, so my natural inclination is to go with players like Lee. Plus I get sick of constant ****ing drops, and Lee is the antidote to that. But Watkins would be a great talent for us.

Either could drop to us, too. Hard to tell this early.

My favorite receiver, and a player I think has a chance to go Top 15 if he has the showing this year that I think he will, is Donte Moncrief (Ole Miss). This guy reminds me a ton of Torrey Smith. Extremely quick, loves to stretch the field, can play out of the slot and out wide. Pretty sharp routes. He doesn't climb the ladder like Lee can, but I'd love to throw him out there in 2014 as a one-dimensional deep threat and slowly flesh out the route tree as he comes along.

I think Mike Evans (Texas A&M) is a bust waiting to happen. He's basically Johnny Baldwin. Absolutely huge frame (6'5", 225), doesn't look to me to be a particularly sharp route-runner, doesn't seem like he's going to get separation at the next level. There are plays he looks like Jordy Nelson with his ability to get open, but you have to keep in mind that Manziel is buying him tons of time.

i'll keep an eye out for moncrief, wasn't familiar with him...if we aren't going QB first, i want an offensive playmaker

re: Evans...a fine line between a Baldwin and a Demaryius(?) Thomas, but I'd prefer a more traditional WR like those mentioned first

Unless Smith goes down to serious injury, I'm saying there is a 0.0001% chance we go QB in the first round.

My biggest hope here is Marquis Lee finds his way down to us. Of course, I also wanted Robert Woods this year.

A&M fan here. I agree that Evans is no sure thing and he'll most likely run somewhere in the 4.65 range. I do like the fact that he uses his body against defenders extremely well and has extraordinary concentration. He reminds me so much of Gonzalez. He's in his fourth year playing football, so I don't know if that means he has room to improve his routes, but he is definitely one of the biggest competitors on the team. He beat out a couple of experienced seniors as a redshirt freshman last year. Receivers are just so hard to project. The homer in me thinks he could be Colston...but I honestly have no clue.

If I had to rank the 2014/2015 prospects A&M prospects, it'd go like this for me

1. Johnny Manziel QB- Everything aside, this dude just has it. Position gets him the nod over Jake.
2. Jake Matthews OT- Love this guy
3. Deshazor Everett CB- Would be a great fit for the chiefs, IMO. Great tackler, good skills and talent, ideal size. Unfortunately, he's playing safety out of desperation right now.
4- Cedric Ogbuehi OT- If he keeps building on his frame, the sky is the limit for him.
5- Mike Evans WR- Might be worth it. Love him as a college player, obviously. Might be A&M's best receiver of all-time
6- Jarvis Harrison OG- Starting his 3rd year as a Junior on that dominant line. He is a big boy.
