What if The Shit Hit The Fan

Banks were closed and money becomes worthless.
Stores were looted and the shelves were empty.
Electric,Water and Sewer services gone..
Gas rationed heavily, roads probably not fit for movement..

What happens next? How do people react? Whats the best course of action..
What would you do? What happens when people start getting hungry?

Now if you try to just stand guard at your house with a weapon, that probably won't work, a lit torch on the roof and you will be coming out, then what?

Everyone should keep at least a months worth of water & food. Past that IMO its anybody guess as to what you will need to survive.

I think withing 2 weeks gangs would form going from house to house pilfering and looting... If you are not in the gang, you get shot or shot at

I suspect that my guns will shoot further than you can throw your torch. It isn't like I'm the only one with a trigger and can only watch one side of the place at a time.

We have an abundance of food and water. The city folk that would try to come and take wouldn't stand a chance.

I suspect with myself, the Mrs (who would have to wake someone up to actually pull a trigger), the kids and their spouses and two teen aged grandchildren (one of which would also not be able to hit shit accurately at that range), it could be done for at least a while.
That would of course mean their homes would be "left to the wolves" but would think that would be the way to go in that situation.

The attacker is not going to walk out in front of your house to shoot a flaming arrow into your roof... he is going to hide behind something and light it up... come out from cover and shoot then he will be back in cover before you can shoot him unless you get real lucky.

Hell, bomb shelters aren't safe if someone discovers it.

your best bet is to gather with a group of people, form some kind of a plan and then try to survive this way. You can't do it all on your own, you have to have help. People working together can overcome a lot of crap. I think many people will be surprised by how much they have in common with each other when TSHTF.

That guy you can't stand because he never mows his damn lawn, that guy might just turn out to be your bff WTSHTF. Blacks, whites, latinos, I think lots of peeps will come together to protect their interests against the bad guys who just want to loot, pillage, rape, steal and cause chaos.

But will people still be able to text? That's all that matters.

I think people fleeing the city will be the biggest problem due to the fact that they are fleeing because big cities will be chaos. It will be an excuse for the bad guys to go crazy and reek havoc, causing all the law abiding folks to flee. The question is, will these fleeing folks help or hurt others who are spread out and in the smaller communities.

I have no doubt the smaller communities can survive. I think the citizens of these smaller communities will come together and form a collective. It's the spill off from the big cities that will pose the greatest danger.

That can be an advantage or a disadvantage ... Hell a flaming remote controlled airplane can do the same thing... Sounds dumb but a hungry man would be desperate

lol at people thinking they would survive this situation. There would be huge groups of people, basically small armies that would band together for survival. That would be the only possible way to survive something like this. Old Dog, you might survive a month or more in your house, but all it would take is for one of these groups to surround your house and wait you out if they so chose to do that. It would be huge fenced, protected communities that would survive not people in their houses.

Some people already live like this. You just wouldn't be able to survive in a congested area and would have to move to a very remote location up north.

I bet you couldn't hit my remote controlled airplane with a bullet coming Kamakaze style towards your house... You might hit it with birdshot when it's crashing into your house but that will only help the nitro spill and burn faster

Just because some guy shoots an arrow into a wood pile soaked with gas does not mean he will be able to light a house on fire with one shot. At most his arrow will hit a roof or the ground and someone will walk over and put it out. Mean while, he's gonna get shot with a semi auto high powered rifle if he tries it again.

Don't mistake me in this thread, I'm in no way, shape, or form a "Doomsday prepper", but with enough shelf stable food laid in for a month (already have more than that) and enough fuel to run a generator to pump water for that amount of time (don't currently have that or normally keep it on hand, but probably have enough for a couple of weeks at least) and enough weapons and ammo to likely take care of me and mine I think most could reasonably expect to be OK for some time.

The key, IMO would be to not be located (as have been mentioned) anywhere near a city of any real size.
