How much better than regular forced air furnace heating?

I'm barefoot, in Iowa, on wooden floors as we speak. Incredible even heat. No sound of the furnace fans. Less expensive with water boiler. I'm sold on radiant heat. It is even in both our attached and detached garages. Oh, and the cats digs the warm spots, won't hardly move in the winter.

Ditto, but in Minnesota. We rent, so I can't comment on some of the maintenance and utility costs, but I've been warm all winter. I'm not sure what the arguments for and against it are, but I do love radiant heat.

I would say the arguments would depend on where you lived. I would think that radiant heat (Assuming you're talking about hydronic) would really only be advantageous in colder climates.

In a climate like KC with really hot summers, I think you'd basically have to build the entire forced air infrastructure the same (ducts, fan, etc) to be able to cool in the summer, and then you have the entire hydronic system as well. I'm certainly no expert, but I'm not sure you'd ever realize a payback.

I've always been paranoid about pumping that much water through my house, but I'm sure it's better than the heat pump I have.
