Is 2010 the Year 11 Wins Stays Home?
After watching San Diego dismantle the Colts yesterday, I started wondering about the Chiefs wildcard playoff chances (you know, just in case SD catches us in the AFC West race). After looking at the remaining schedules of the division leaders and their closest rivals, I think there's a good chance some team could be sitting at home with an 11-5 record...
Teams that could get to 11/11+: Great Shot - Jets and Patriots (2nd place in the division a likely wildcard), only need to go 2-3 over the next five weeks. Solid Shot - Ravens and Steelers, need to go 3-2. One of these teams is very likely to get to 11 since they face one another next week. The winner will also likely be division champion...can they both get to 11 and secure a likely wildcard spot? Could - Chiefs need to go 4-1...so we have a chance. The game in SD looks very tough, but otherwise I can see winning out at home a beating St. Louis in the dome. Also Could - San Diego - Yeah they need to win out...but geez, look at that favorable schedule. So that's six teams that could get to 11 wins with only three division champions. Indy, Jacksonville and Miami could all get to 11 if they win out as well, but from what I've seen from each, and their schedules, 5-0 would be very improbable. Yeesh...11 wins and on the couch for the playoffs. That would suck! |

Ugh I'm tired of hearing about SD. I want to beat them so bad in two weeks.

Yeah, Matt Cassel already knows how this feels.

The way I see it. If we beat San Diego we will be in the playoffs and deserve so rightfully.
If we lose we don't deserve to go anyway. To be the best you have to beat the best . Right . |
Watch the Chiefs finish 11-5, sweeping the NFC West while the winner of that division finishes 8-8.

I'm sure the Chargers haven't given a 2nd thought to how KC's looked the last two weeks...
|
It happened in 1985 ... Denver won 11 games and didn't advance.

If we go 11-5 and for whatever reason are on the outside looking in, I'd still be estatic. Going 11-5 in an arguably rebuilding season? Hell of a successful show of improvement from 4-12 IMO.

I believe we are a game and a half ahead of the chargers, no? So, if we do lose our head to head with them, but win out, we would still be a half game ahead of them, correct?
With that said, I honestly think this team can compete with the chargers. Right now, our offense is on fire, we're currently ranked 6th in the NFL in total yards, we're averaging almost 26 pts per game. We have the number one rush offense in the NFL, Bowe and Cassel are both playing the way we need them to play (knock on wood). Bowe and cassel are helping the running game, teams are going to have to start to key in on Bowe, this will open up Moeaki and whoever the **** our #2 reciever is. I honestly think we are going to be playing our best football going into the chargers game, we just need to be healthy. We all said that in December, this team is going to be pretty darn good, well, its looking like thye just might be! BOOOOYAAAAHHHHHHHHH |

I see this happening. It's going to suck, but such is life. Like the 10-6 2006 team not making it, then a year later the 2007 team (which sucked ass by comparison) snuck in at 9-7. In the end, though, we did it to ourselves, pissing away two easy victories against Houston and Oakland that will cost us the division and the playoffs. :shake: |
F**k the Chargers. Handle business in San Diego two weeks from now and we've got nothing to worry about.
